Admission Status

I applied…around what October 30th? Sent them all my info early November. Around late December I find out that they didn’t receive my transcripts so I had my counselor fax it to them. Called them the next day, they did not get it. Had my counselor fax it to them, call them to verify they got it. When I called the next day…they lost it. Then around early January I got the “Your decision is pending review”…still haven’t gotten any news. Its funny how your top school goes to being your worst case scenario in a matter of faxes.

primetime - Your stats are 1430 SAT and top 5% of class? Did I read that right on another thread? If that is so you really need to let Tulane know that. Does seem like your application was jinxed or something.

Primetime, this is a case where you need to call and speak directly to your admissions rep. My DD’s app seemed to be jinxed too and once we called her rep, things seemed to smooth out and happen quickly. If you are a top student, you would be smart to call sooner than later. If you are a candidate for the Honors program, know that the Honors weekends are fast approaching. They are not mandatory but others here have said they are a good time to visit campus if you havent as of yet. Good Luck.

I applied early/mid-December and have had “Decision is pending review” for wayyyy too long now. I may call them tomorrow - I really want to have a decision either way before all the rest of my schools.

i just found out last night…got accepted

I submitted mine on Dec. 31 and response on March 1…so basically two month response lol

congrats. I don’t know about anyone else, but that seems like a very reasonable turn-around time for RD applicants. I don’t think they promise anything beyond an April 1 notification for RD, do they?

I also just got accepted, finally. (I applied EA, haha…) But I’m still really excited about it!

OK, so yours took longer, lol. Congrats none-the-less! We like excited students, especially when they are excited about Tulane.

Has anyone who posted earlier who applied in December gotten their decisions yet? And for those that didn’t have their mid-year transcripts in, how did you know? I applied in mid-December with the personal application and since the beginning of January (three months) it has said “pending review”. At what point should I call?

Since it is already March 5, it is likely that Tulane is waiting to see how the size of the class is shaping up from the students already accepted. I am very much speculating, but if President Cowen is thinking the acceptance rate is going to come in at about 20%, they must be seeing a higher yield than last year. Therefore they are being careful, because Tulane cannot handle a freshman class over 1600, and even that would be a strain. You can call of course, but you might as well wait a couple of weeks and then they will send out all the decisions.

Rejected
I applied RD.
3.6 GPA
ACT was really low: 26
Essay was very good (or so I thought)
Excellent teacher/councelor recs

I had some struggles in 11th grade and have maintained all A’s since then so I thought that would be my hook: That I overcame my issues.
Unfortunately that 11th grade year/my ACTs screwed me over.

Not really my top choice, nor my second or third really, but still bummed that I got rejected.

Yeah, never fun to be rejected, but as you say, at least wasn’t top choice. If it is any comfort, the word is that the incoming class is looking strong and that they are looking at a large group, so it was a tough year to have some issues like you describe. Apparently President Cowen says that the admit rate is going to be only 20% or thereabouts, so that is really low.

Best of luck with Wisconsin!

Ok, I called and apparently they moved me from early to regular decision. That probably has something to do with the transcripts more than anything, but they have all my info. I should get in, my GPA UW is low 3.2 but my SAT score and course difficulty should more than make up for it.

Either way, don’t think I’m going to Tulane anymore, their lack of organization tells me a lot about them.

I got into my top school so I guess all is well, just wished that Tulane would’ve made it an interesting decision

Good luck at your first choice (I assume Miami?). Sorry you were disappointed in the process.
