Hi, I'm a senior in high school and have an unweighted gpa of about a 3.58 and a weighted gpa of a 3.76 (my schools weights less than most schools) so on a 5.0 scale it would be 3.8 or higher. I really want to see if I have a chance at getting a good scholarship. I am of African decent, first-generation student. I want to apply for the Frederick Douglass Scholarship but I'm afraid that I won't get it. I am applying regular decision and test-optional. I have pages and pages of extracurricular activities and I have my mind set on helping those in underprivileged communities and countries. This is my all-time goal and it's a lifetime mission. My GPA would have been a lot better but due to absence for a month during junior year for my sick grandparents I was to try and teach myself the material, which was almost impossible in that state. I managed not to get any C's or anything but I know I could have easily gotten a 4.0 or higher. I have taken about 9 AP classes not really interested in taking the AP tests though and I have taken several honors classes. I'm a high achieving minority at my high school and I am part of the National Honor Society. I really want this scholarship but I need to know if I am even remotely close to being selected. Please let me know!

What are your test scores?

I got a 1550… I just cannot master the SAT’s but I’m not upset because it definitely does not define me as a student.
