looks like you have a good chance.
It’s an OOS public and expensive. Have you asked your parents if they’ll pay the $50k per year to go there?
Your stats look competitive to me . . . good luck, and definitely look at the expense.
The new SAT scores aren’t out yet - is this your PSAT score that you listed? Same for AP score (unless you took AP Calc AB test as a sophomore). At any rate, yes, you do have a good chance at GT, as long as your parents can pony up the $$, as others have mentioned.
Also, make a list of other universities. For example, UMD Engrg/ CS is very well regarded
Do an early action application - the dead line is October 15. It will improve your chances, though last cycle was brutal with many rejects and deferrals.
@“Stephen Bulking”
I hope you are well,
So your scores are good, but you do know that many students were rejected this year with phenomenal scores. I will say this though, being Hispanic really does help. GT is very affirmative action in its policy, and GT Admissions tries to diversify its class in certain ways. Many of these ways are very unfair, but some are good policies. GT has a minority of Hispanics as students, so it is far easier to get in as you will be preferred in admissions to diversify the student body. This is just fact. Your grades are good, your test scores and good, your math scores are good, and you fit in that parameter, so I’d say accept.
On the other hand, for Asians (especially), and White students, it is far more competitive. It becomes a tad bit harder if one is a male, or attends a rural public school over a high ranked private school, etc.,
Based on extensive research, I know these biases exist. They’re not a good thing - but it is what it is.
Best wishes to you.
