Hey everyone, I was just wondering if you get a Candidate's Choice Application from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute does it mean they will accept you if you apply? Thanks.

Nope. It’s akin to getting solicitation emails from colleges or mail from Harvard. Many colleges are seeking more applicants to become more selective and increase their public prestige, most notably Case Western, Tulane, and RPI. Whether you get the Choice Application or not is probably based on vague ACT / SAT scoring lists. Either way, its better if you just use the Common App for Rensselaer. I looked through the Choice Application and its hardly as streamlined as choosing RPI through the Common App site. One of the (ex?)plicit agreements for colleges using the Common App is that they give no preference to those who use their personal application. So if you want to apply, I would do it via Common App.

RPI’s admit rate is around 40 % I think, so you should have at least a reasonable chance of admission.
