Oh, by the way, i would really appreciate it if you could PM me your opinions...Thanks

Hi All!
I graduated from the United World College in the US last year (I'm from the United Arab Emirates, a tiny country in the middle east -- living in America felt like an interesting prospect at the time...) and I'm humbled by your interest in the movement. It is a one-of-a-kind program with an unfailing tendency to change your view of the world forever.
As for as admission is concerned, I would certainly say that expressing a genuine interest in people, global issues and their implications is more important than an ultra-accomplished portfolio of activities.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
Good Luck!

So who else got the email saying the server was down? I thought it was a little random. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the first few words were "we regret that..." I was sure I had just been rejected! Ugh. Never want to see those words again.

^ That scared me too. I'm guessing they just wanted to prepare everyone for (possibly) having to resubmit their applications, or a short delay in interview invitations.

Is that what that means? I just thought it meant we wouldn't be able to log in to see our submitted applications or something. Hm.

Two weeks! Eeeeek! We definitely need to tell each other if we got an interview or not. Ya?

Not necessarily. Everything is probably fine since there hasn't been any further communication.

Wow, I've been trying to avoid this board so I could keep myself from worrying about results, but it isn't working! Is all of your all's stuff in? I don't think my guidance counselor has even sent my mid-year grades in yet, and it's really making me panic!

Yep. They've received all of my stuff. I'm sure they're pretty lenient with mid-year grade reports since many counselors are especially busy right now (my counselor has a massive stack of reports for 4-year colleges.)

My counselor just sent it in, so it will either get there the day of or the day after, which I'm sure they're fine with. I'm more worried about the email I'll see in my inbox on Feb18...

^ Didn't realize they'd let us know by 2/18 (that's quick!). I was going by the timeline on the website which says "early March," then I reread that email from the 19th which also said, "While we have only begun to start completing admission files it is becoming abundantly clear from this early date that this is one of the most competitive applicant pools that we have ever had the honor to consider," /sigh.

Ooh that last line about "one of the most competitive applicant pools that we have ever had" really depressed me too. I had gotten really excited when I first read the we would find out by the 18th because I was going by the online timeline as well, and then I read how competitive this year and I was suddenly less excited.

I'm pretty sure that was just to cushion the blow for 300 of us, since there's no way they'd already looked at them the day they were due. But I'm sure the applicant pool gets more competitive and increases in number as each year passes.

Ten days. I'm so nervous!

You guys must be even more nervous because, if I remember correctly, you're juniors (?).

Yeah, the junior thing makes the pressure even worse. Just knowing that I can't even apply next year if I don't make it this time is driving me nuts.

Samesies! If I'm stuck at my current high school for another year I may go insane. Nine days!

Hey,
Good luck man...Im sure that the chances of you getting the scholarship would definetely increase if you were able to potray that you really wanted to get it...

^ I agree with the above (to a certain extent). T-minus 6 days :-D.

Every time I check my inbox I start borderline hyperventilating in case they send it earlier. ahhhh! I can't believe I'm this nervous!

So I was talking to a girl on another networking site. She had e-mailed admissions not long ago about something, I'm not sure what, and they e-mailed her back yesterday and said that we might not know by the 18th. They told her that there were more applications than they expected. Nobody else has heard anything official though. I hope they don't push the deadline back! I'm going crazy as it is!

Oh, really? That's weird, because I've seen that they always send out decisions before the actual date to some people. Five days is long enough to wait! I can't stand this, I just want to know already!

What other networking site were you on?
