Admission to UCSC

Hi I am a senior in High school right now in California. My dream is school is UC Santa Cruz. I would like to know what some people think of my chances of being admitted! I have a 3.83 GPA and an SAT score of 1170. I have only taken 1 AP class ( AP Spanish and recieved a score of 4). I am in AP Literature, AP Phsyics 1, and AP Statistics currently. Past classes I’ve taken are all regular ( except honors English 10) and recieved all A’s. However I received a B both semesters in H English 10, second semester of geometry, and both semesters of Algebra 2 ( which I took junior year). I am in concert band and involved in executive band council. I am also in marching band and winter percussion. I am also in a program/class called college peer mentor where I tutor kids at my schools on college and the process. I was involved in habitat for humanity starting second semester of junior year and the California scholarship federation from sophomore year to senior year. I am currently the president of heal the bay club which I started senior year. I did a medical camp in the summer going into junior year and played in various ensembles ( outside of school) to help raise money for our programs. My freshman year I messed up really bad and got a 2.0 GPA and failed Algebra but after that year I never got anything lower than a B. I know this was very long but I would very much appreciate it if someone could get back to me! Thanks so much

Intended major?

Your UC GPA is within range but your SAT is below the 25th percentile. You have some good EC’s and if your personal insight essays are compelling you have a decent chance at an acceptance. Best of luck and at this point all you do is hope for the best.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSC: 70%

2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
UCSC: 3.96

2018 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCSC: 1210-1450

Any reason you posted this in the USC thread instead of in the UCSC thread? Good luck though…
