Anyone have an idea of how long it takes OU to send an admission acceptance notice?

Depends on when you applied and the volume they are processing at the time, but for us the turnaround was very fast - my daughter submitted her common app on 10/17 and received an email on 11/4.

Thank you for the response tikimom. As part of the response did they indicate any kind of merit scholarship award?

Not in the initial email or in the admissions packet that they sent out around the same time. But she got a separate letter, dated 11/25, with scholarship info.

The merit scholarship process is not holistic. Here’s the document which lists the merit scholarships your child will be eligible for http://www.ou.edu/honors/ouscholars/ScholDescription_13%2014.pdf

Keep in mind that some majors (most notably engineering and the geosciences) have scholarships for sophomores and above with some degree of financial need.

It does not appear you can receive another one on tht list as they are all at least a “partial tution waiver” and it states you cannot receive more than one…

My son was awarded two scholarships, other than the NM package, and they trickled in well after he was accepted. The last one he never even received a letter saying he had been awarded it. I happened to notice it when I was checking his account one day a few weeks before fall semester started.

@Soonermom95 … Do you mind sharing what scholarships your son received in addition to the NM package? My daughter is NMSF and there’s no reason she won’t be NMF. She’s accepted at OU. Other than the President’s Leadership Class (which we hope she will be offered) and President’s Community Scholars, it seems like the other freshman scholarships only involve tuition wavers which wouldn’t add to the NM package. I must be missing something.

ohmmom I can’t remember the name of one of them. It was a foundation scholarship of some sort not much, $750 and for the first year only. The other one was the Sooner Opportunity Award for $1,000 also freshman year only. Hope that helps.

Son accepted quite a while ago but no scholarship letter. He is a NMF but has not listed OU as his 1st choice. Do they wait on that choice before sending out a scholarship offer?

Thanks, Soonermom95. That was very help.
