Hey! I'm a transfer student for Spring 2013 and want to study chemical engineering, I got into UIUC and UW-Madison as a Chemistry major (I chose to put Chemistry as my major instead of chemical engineering since ChemEng is very competitive). I emailed the admissions committee at UIUC and was told that they'll put me on the same schedule as a chemical engineering student and I can change majors as soon as the program becomes open (i'll be changing majors within the same college since chemical engineering is also in LAS). As for UW-Madison I'll be changing my major to a diff college since chemical engineering is in the college of engineering, and after I finish the required pre-reqs for the college of engineering I have to apply there with essays and recommendation letters too. I like both UW-M and UIUC, however UW-M has more research opportunities in chemical engineering and is also ranked higher than UIUC. Which school do you think will have a better/easier path to transition to chemical engineering??? provided that I meet the min gpa requirements for both schools..

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated!!!
