when i was reviewing this school’s application criteria, i saw that there is a qualifier as to whether or not you can even apply, the eligibility index. do they take into account how high that score is when they review your application, or is it just a qualifier?

That’s just to qualify you for the CSU campuses… it’s not a qualifier to Cal Poly specifically.

If I recall (don’t feel like looking it up), if you have a 3.0 or higher, then it’s nearly impossible to not qualify… you would have to have a really low SAT or ACT.

Believe it or not, you need an minimum IQ of 110 or higher to be able to graduate from College. What’s an IQ of 110… well, the average IQ is 100… and most people fall into the standard deviation range of 90 - 110.

To do well in college, you need a minimum IQ of 115.

Why am I telling you this…? Because a SAT or ACT is just another representation of IQ… it measures your potential, not your knowledge. If your SAT is high enough… then it doesn’t really matter how you did in High School grade-wise (still need minimum GPA though).

Colleges don’t want you to waste your time or theirs if you don’t have what it takes to graduate.

So… all this being said, even if you qualify, you are still competing with everyone else applying. If their grades, SAT’s, extracurricular activities are better than yours, then you might not get selected for that college.
