Admission?

Hey guys,

Has anyone heard anything from Smith yet?

I received a notice a couple of weeks ago that I had been wait-listed...
Hopefully I'll get in after they see my mid-term report.

Has anyone else received notifications? Acceptance maybe?

Good luck!

You probably won’t hear until after the deadline for regularly admitted students. At that point, Smith can decide how many spots it still has open.

I can’t remember if by snail mail or email but I believe my waiting listed daughter got something saying that if accepted off of waiting list, it would be after
May 1st and no later than July 1st.

Devotchka, did you send in additional information (see TheDad’s recent post) so they know you’re interested?

CarolynB:

I just did! Thanks for letting me know. I thought about sending something extra, but I wasn’t sure how it would come off. I sent a letter of interest to the dean. I don’t know who else I could ask for recommendations, though. Would my employer suffice?

I think a letter of recommendation from your employer could be useful. Any other teachers? Have you received any special recognitions/notable activities/leadership opportunities/honors from school, your community or elsewhere since you sent in your application?

I got into the Honor Program, but I haven’t participated in any activities. This semester I mostly took general classes just in case I was accepted at Smith or Wellesley, so I haven’t really made much contact with the professors…

It would be good to share with Smith about your being admitted to the Honor Program. A rec from your employer would be fine.

I am confused a bit. Are you a transfer student or a regular RD? Your comment about professors threw me.

I’m a transfer student. I meant I’m not taking any courses in my major. I’m taking general courses (i.e. bio, philosophy), so that my credits are accepted. It’s the first time I’ve taken classes with these professors, so I don’t really know them outside of the classroom/personally.
