Admission

Just out of curiosity, are you notified through email or you just have to keep checking the Status thing? And is it possible that they post a decision on the weekend?

My daughter found out by checking her status for the industrial design program over the weekend. She received a letter on Tuesday that provided the same information.

Congrats to your son on bioengineering. Great field! My daughter and I are tired of waiting for this uc nursing decision. Admissions said in January when we called but I see no one posting about nursing at all!! Does that mean there have been no decisions or people just don’t post on this site? Uc is a top choice for her. We are OOS so were hoping that helps her get in. If anyone has heard from nursing, please post.

@hydropump‌ – he found out by watching the online status check. I checked it earlier in the day, but between 3pm and 5pm, they updated the status. I suppose there may be a letter coming today or tomorrow by regular mail. In the online posting, there was no mention of Honors Program or merit scholarship (I don’t want to seem overly confident, but out of the schools at which he’s been accepted so far, all five have offered both)/

Thanks @bengalmom1 – I think decisions are just dribbling out. Some of the DAAP students have already heard, one electrical engineering student already heard (and posted here), and we haven’t seen any nursing students (yet). But also realize we are a select sample – could be that people don’t go online, don’t want to broadcast their business (yea or nay), or just don’t care.

Called admissions. 2 to 3.weeks til nursing decisions are released. Get ready to wait more. We are out of state so if she got in we would need to get there quick to visit. Any hotels on a bus line to campus or walkable?

Hampton Inn on Vine is a short walk to campus. Be aware that the walk back, pretty much like the campus itself is, shall we say, hilly. You’ll have calf muscles like a linebacker when the visit is over.

Anyone know when honors invites go out? Seems like UC’s process moves a lot slower than the other schools I’ve applied to-- Ohio State, Purdue, and Miami.

@Ilikewilco‌ in the e-mail they sent out to parents, it says mid-late January

the marriott has a shuttle to campus i believe and is right off campus

Hey thanks for that info. Now if we wanted to stay on heart of cincinnatti with a quick cab ride to campus, what would u recommend? Shouldn’t be getting my hopes up she’s going to get in but she is, so I’m there with her!! Her sat scores are alittle low for nursing but she has great grades and demonstrated she knows the field and wants to be in it.

@bengalmom1‌ - I think you’ll find that downtown gets kind of lonely after regular working hours. But if you really want to try it, there is (I think) a Westin directly across from Fountain Square; I think you’ll find that is a pretty lively area most of the day, with a handful of restaurants within walking distance.

I would also suggest checking the CCM calendar to see what kind of events are going on. Even student recitals are pretty fantastic. There might be some sporting events too, or some other event on campus.

S received invite from UC via snailmail today to Honors program. Includes invite to Honors Bearcat Brunch on Saturday, March 7th. He’s engineering student, also considering OSU incl. honors program there too. Tough choice, happy for him.

My son received a letter yesterday (may have been delayed a day or two because of snow) inviting him to the university honors program (he’s been accepted in the biomedical engineering program). I haven’t seen the letter yet, nor talked to him about it, but I imagine he’s pretty happy.

My D also received a letter from the honors program on Monday. We are OOS ( 8 hour drive), and will not be attending the March 7th event. I contacted the honors program to find out whether she would be at a disadvantage not attending, and they told me that information about the honors program will be discussed at orientation. She is excited that she can apply for honors housing.
