I am a junior in michigan and i have about a 3.1 gpa and I recieved a 24 on my ACT (I took it again on the new MME and im still waiting on the scores). I take mostly all honors and AP courses in school, i am a junior class officer and a member of student council. also i do all this while playing varsity baseball and keeping a job

what are my options for colleges I would be able to get into in michigan?

Michigan is a reach for you. Your grades are pretty low by their standards --- but if you go to a really good school, they give you extra points. Search the posts for the U of M grade point conversion, because they look at certain classes & recalculate your gpa. Your ACT is low for U of M. Hopefully, your retake for MME is higher. You can always try again in Oct. Or try the SAT; it might work better for you.

On another note ... U of M is not the be all & end all, even though most of the state seems to think it is. There are plenty of good schools to attend! If you want MI publics, there are great options. What are you interested in studying? Do you want a big campus or a smaller campus? Grand Valley is well-liked by kids at my daughter's school. MI Tech for engineers, Northern if you like snow sports, Wayne State on-campus is getting more popular, Western for music, MSU for a big school experience, Ferris State for pharmacy, Northwood for business (private), Albion/Alma/Adrian/Aquianas/Hope (private LAC's), etc., etc. Start looking at school websites. Check out their student statistic/profile pages, look at costs & financial aid, figure out what kind of campus you want. Spend your summer doing some research & even making some visits. Good luck!

There's a vast no. of options in state. What does your guidance counselor say? Do you attend a HS where many kids go to college? Are you good enough to collegiate level baseball? You should see if there are any info sessions or a college night at yours or a nearby HS.

Kelsmom: the OP isn't asking about UMich per se. He's asking for colleges in general in Michigan, I believe.

You're right T26E4, I was talking about colleges in general in Michigan. One of my friends got into Central Michigan with a 2.8 and a 20 on his ACT so I should be fine.

Eastern, Western, Central, Kalamazoo, UM-Flint, UM-Dearborn, UM-AA if your GPA was brought down by your Freshman year and you bring that ACT to a 28 or 29

And in the defense of kelsmom, UMich-AA is definetly the best school in Michigan, i assume that the OP wouldn't mind going there if they got in

I agree with Kelsmom, while UMich-AA is an excellent school, it's not the be all and end all so many make it out to be. Definitely the best? Depends on what field your talking.
