<p>How much does it help to have an alumni relation and does sending an artisitic material such as a video of me dancing improve chances. I have aboput a 3.5ishgpa unweighted and higher weighted. I have a lot of leadership roles. I am related to someone who attended Duke and i am thinking of sending in artistic material of me dancing.</p>

<p>i myself did send in a dance video and resume. i don't know how much it helped but I did get in with a likely letter</p>
<p>The artistic material is a plus; when I applied a few years ago, they had a supplementary form on which one can write about involvement with an art and attach some supplemental material. The admissions people then send it to the respective department (in your case, dance) and an evaluation is sent back to the admissions department upon review. If the dance people like you, they will also try to recruit you for their program.</p>
<p>And the artistic material can't hurt you so even if for some reason they don't like you it won't hurt your admissions decision. (though I am sure they will)</p>
<p>Unless there is something saying that additional mat'ls are not welcome, it certainly can't hurt. Especially if one of your essays refers to the role that dance plays in your life.</p>
