Does anyone know if SDSU admissions looks at each application, noting rigor, courses taken at a Community College, and extra A-G classes? Or, do they just calculate the EI and make a decision based on that alone? Thank you
All the Cal States consider HS course rigor very important, but none state how they determine the HS course rigor other than using the Capped weighted CSU GPA and a review of the a-g courses on the application to make sure the applicant meets the requirements. (exception Cal Poly SLO which uses the bonus points and a computer algorithm.)
Other than Cal Poly SLO, all admit by Eligibility index and major. They rank applicants by EI in their particular major and then accept from the top down until all spots are filled.
Being in the local service area for most campuses (SDSU/SLO excluded) will have a lower EI threshold than out of area applicants.
This is all I know about the CSU admissions system.
Will I get in? 2.4 GPA and 19 Act Score. I live in San Diego County.
@RussianPride: SDSU has not considered in local area preference in the last few years except for compact to success applicants and this program is being discontinued.
Here is the average stats for the 2018 Freshman. Based on what I have posted, what do you think about your chances? Also since you are a fairly new poster, if you have questions you need to start your own thread.
