admissions at midd?

hey guys... i tried this on the main board but didnt get any responses really. i was hoping someone had specifics and could give me an idea of my chances at midd? i am very interested in the school and its really one of my top choices for next year but i know how intense the process is for the school. however, i also know there are quite a few people at the school w/ lower sat scores despite the competativeness of the school and was wondering what my chances looked like overall?

1410 SAT/2140 on new scale (750 V, 660 M, 730 Writing (10 on essay)) -
Took SAT IIs in Spanish and US History this week and should get above 700 on both
My weighted average for the 3 years is 96.7, 93 something unweighted, so i guess around a 3.7 gpa?
I will have taken 4 AP's by the time i graduate (Eng Lang, American History, English Lit, Bio) and most all of other classes honors

I will have very strong teacher recommendations from my AP english teacher and Spanish 5 teacher and a counselor recommendation.

i would like to go into bio/spanish and am really looking for a strong study abroad program so midd is very attractive to me. any opinions would be great! thanks!

wow. looks great. i got in with less extracurricular-wise, but my scores and gpa were higher (not much though; you're competitive definitely). my main catch was that i'm from Oklahoma (midd has 1 other Okie), so i guess i was judged pretty differently. people from New York, mass., and california are up against a much stronger applicant pool. that being said, if you interview, and make your resume personal and extensive (not just a list of things you did for 1 year), you have a great shot. make sure your essay isn't just a travel description, though. they get plenty of those due to Midd's famous language programs. your essay should be about you, or how your experiences influenced your personality. good luck! i don't envy your position... i am so glad the process is finally over! by the way, midd's new science hall (bicentennial hall) is really cool. spanish is the worst department of languages, though. it's still strong (in comparison to other schools, it's a good program), but the other languages are better overall.

I ended up choosing Carleton College over Midd. both are great schools, but carleton just had a better "atmosphere," in my opinion. it also felt more socially diverse. when you get your choices down to 2 great schools, any difference you can find helps with the decision, and i guess i wasn't ready for a New England experience (though i was born in northern NJ). good luck again! i'm sure with your stats and experiences you'll have many great choices.

hey thanks a lot! haha yeah i'm trying to get ahead on some of this stuff so it doesn't get too crazy in the fall and i'm kind of looking all over.... one of the other schools i am really interested in is emory, which is funny because it couldnt be more different atmosphere-wise... but thanks again for taking the time to respond! i hope you have a great time at carleton!
