Please, Leave a comment describing what you believe my chances to be for each school and things I could improve.

Thank You very much.

Your GPA is quite low and your ECs are fairly weak for the very selective schools. Almost certainly rejected from MIT, Stanford and Carnegie Mellon U. You have good chances at the other schools. Good luck.

I can understand MIT and Stanford, but Carnegie Mellon sent me information/application for a Summer Program. Plus my GPA is only .03 less than their average. Are my chances for them really so low? If so, do you have any recommendations…I haven’t taken the REAL SAT yet.

Assuming you do get a 2250 SAT-
U M College Park: Safe
U M Baltimore County: Safe
Carnegie Mellon: reach
Drexel: Safe
VT: Safe
MIT and Stanford: BIG reach.

Your chances for Carnegie Mellon are decent. Since GPA is too late to really change, stack up on some EC’s, get a 2250 SAT, and have good interviews, essays, and recommendations.

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1631743-do-i-have-a-remote-chance-at-cornell-will-chance-back.html#latest

Sorry, I was in a hurry. I meant MIT and Stanford. As stated above, your chances for CMU are decent. Your ECs could be improved and on the SAT have a score >2200. A big part, often overlooked, are the interviews, essays and recommendations, Have them very good and get them proofread.
MIT and Stanford: Not that good of a chance, but anything can happen
CMU: Fairly good chance
Others: You’re probably in

Thanks for the Advice, does your desired major have any admissions effect either?

MIT states that your prospective major is tentative, so it doesn’t matter much. In the US, most people specify their major by the end of their freshmen year at university anyway. It could have an effect if you achieved a D- in Calculus but want to do a math and physics double major, for example.

I thought I was gonna get a D, so I dropped it as a class. Some of the stuff on my other thread was predicted. I’m retaking it over the summer to hopefully get an A. Again thanks for the advice !

I take classes at Community College^

Your GPA is low, but I guess that is too late to change. Hopefully you will get a 2250 on the SAT, but other that there’s probably not much you can do now. And don’t forget about the interview, essay, and recommendations; they are extremely important and often forgotten. MIT and Stanford are big reaches, CM is probably a high match, and the rest are match/safe.
