I was wondering if someone could tell me what they believe my chances are for being accepted into Richmond, as it is my top school. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

-Senior
- Top Catholic private school in Connecticut (OOS)
- 3.6 weighted, 3.3 unweighted. I know this is a little low but the school I attend is well-known for being very rigorous
- 28 ACT (taking again)
- 1850 SAT, 1230 combined Math and CR
- 257 service hours
- 4 AP courses and 7 honors courses throughout high school
- top 50% of class (a little low)
- lots of ECSs including varsity hockey and lacrosse, service projects, camp counselor, job at restaurant for over 1 year, etc.
- 3 very strong letters of recommendation
-NHS

U of R is definitely a reach. Your GPA is low, along with both your ACT and SAT scores. Your ACT is 25th percentile for U of R and your SAT is an equivalent score. 93% were in the top 25% of their graduating class.

Here is a link to the student profile of who they admitted this past Spring. Richmond is a reach stats wise but it’s not a ridiculous reach. No one here can tell you more than what you could google yourself. I say put together your best application and stay positive. Good luck!

Hey we have near the same unweighted GPA! I probably know less than you but are you considering ED? That’s kind of what I was considering. Oh and could any of you chance me too! Good luck man!

Hi. My daughter applied to University of Richmond regular decision class of 2018. She is a freshman there now and is very happy. My impression having spoken to a lot of her classmates it is really an early decision school. They have both 1 and 2. It continues to be more competitive as it’s national reputation increases. It is really so unpredictable. I know quite a few kids who got into Michigan and did not get into Richmond. Anyway her unweighted GPA was around 3.5 her SAT’s were 2300 and she had 6 or seven AP’s great recos did not interview and a great essay. She was waitlisted at michigan, William and Mary, Dartmouth and Hamilton. She applied to all of these schools RD as well. Having gone through this torture last year I would say If you rally love the school and know you want to go there APPLY early. Hope this helps

Browender1031, your daughter’s stats sound similar to my son’s (3.6 uw/4.2 w and 33 ACT), but we are not in a position to apply ED. We did visit. Would you think he may not get without an ED application? It’s really tough for families who can’t count on financial aid, but can’t afford to pay full tuition. Hoping to be considered for Richmond Artist Scholar.
