Admissions Chances

Hello, I’m a prospective undergraduate transfer applicant to NYU for the fall of 2021 and I have a few questions.

I began going to university in 2017 but my first two years of school I barely took any classes and I either failed or withdrew from any classes I did take. I began to take school much more seriously and I got a 3.8 for my winter semester of 2020 and a 4.0 for three classes I took for this summer semester. I’m extremely driven to get into NYU so I believe I can keep up this pace for the fall 2020-2021 semester. I also plan to retake the SAT and I believe ill get between a 1450-1550 up from my original 1190 score. With all that being said, are my chances as an undergrad transfer ruined by my terrible showing the first two years of college? Or could I still have a chance?

How many college credits do you have already? What is your cumulative college GPA? If you have been going to school since 2017 they may not even consider a score on the SAT if you retake it. They are pretty competitive and look at college grades as most important for transfer applicants.

As of right now including the summer classes and classes I have retaken I have a GPA of about 3.88 and 24 credits. After another semester, If I get all A’s, I will have a GPA of 3.92 and 36 credits.
