if i manage to write killer, interesting essays, do i stand a chance at all?

i posted one of the "my chances?" things on the yale thread, so i figured i should trust karma and respond to yours so someone might respond to mine [8

ok- first of all, your SAT scores are amazing for a sophomore..seriously, amazing..
im sure youll do great in the fall- above 700's youve got a good chance
PLUS..your a published author?? i would try and make this stand out as much as possible, it def caught my eye..seriously, i wanted to know about the "things youll never say"..
more: your piano achievments sound incredible (disregard the awful spelling, its a def weakness ;)
your other EC's are standard
ohh...APS and college classes awsome..i wish i had your transcript ]:
overall, i think you've got a great shot..
id say 85% minimum

im applying RD to brown--as of now-- but your profile looks great, i dont want to jinx anything, so you might want to knock on wood after reading this, but good luck at Brown next yr!

I would have to agree, your stats are amazing. It shouldn't be summarised into a percentage, though. Make yourself even more interesting in your essays and you'd be a fantastic applicant.

Normal first round evaluation: (1-5, 1 being best)
Academic : 2 ( SAT and GPA not perfectly best score comparing to other super stars)
Ecs : 2 ( for music achievements, 1 is for ppl like yoyo ma or someone who played in carnegie hall, but u're great)
Ecs : 3-4 ( for sports achievement, nothing major to show outstanding performance)
Ecs : 2-4 ( for leadership qualitities, nothing spectacular, depending what the college is looking for, ur score varies from 2-4)
Ecs : 1-2( for the book u published!! : ) well again, it depends on what quality and what depth and breadth the book is, anyone could easily publish some book as long as they have a rich publishing relative! it's good to send a copy if the college is okay to receive it! )

Overall first glance score : 2-4 ( comparing you to some superstar around the forum. Again, this is just based on your dry stats ) good luck!
