Admissions chances

Mich is in my top three choices as of now. Can anyone estimate my chances (applying next year)?
I live outside Chicago
I'm a junior at a Catholic high school (medium sized, about 1200 students)
98.2% Average (out of 100%, w/ weight the valedictorian usually gets about a 103% so mine's not perfect but pretty high)
School doesn't rank, but almost definitely in top 10% of (very competitive) class
Always in all possible honors and AP
Current Classes-AP Biology (all seniors), AP US Hist. Honors PreCal, Spanish 3, Honors Physics, Cath. Church Class, and AP Language
Next year: AP Physics, AP Euro Hist., AP Calc BC, AP Spanish, Ethics, AP English Lit, possibly AP Chem also
33 ACT (I'm starting prep, so I really think I can get a 34+)
2150 SAT (not retaking)
Involved in: Student council, School Paper (writer), Perform in both musical and play, on stage crew for 2 years, Co-Pres of Recycling club and Student Action, in NHS<--I'm in other clubs but these are the ones I'm most active in
I had a job for 6 months this year but was too busy, plan to get another
Have req. service work through school, plan to do weekly work (10 hours or so) at local hospital
Will work HARD on essay

How's it looking? Thanks

you look like you have a great chance to me! Apply EARLY, like by mid-oct, and I’d say you have a 75% chance of admission. In fact, if you apply early, I really don’t see you getting rejected. What dept. are you applying for, and do you have a rank?

If one thing could improve, I’d say it’s your ECs. They’re pretty basic.

Yeah I know my EC’s don’t seem like much, but musical rehearsals suck up a third of the year altogether, and play does just enough where commiting to other things is tough.

I think I’m going into architecture or biology. Not sure yet.

My school doesn’t rank, but because it’s pretty competitive, everyone knows everyones academic business (grades, test scores, etc.) so I am just making a good guess that I’m top ten percent. While I realize colleges won’t see my estimate, I just threw it in so you could evaluate my grades a little more accurately.

Apply early and you should get in.

Is applying early action beneficial? I’ve been told that you should only apply early when you basically know you’ll get in, because early admissions has a more competitive applicant pool?
I was planning to apply regular action to my tops, (the hardest to get into) ND, BC, Umich, UChicago (only applying b/c I’m a legacy) and Northwestern then apply early to the others (UofI, UWisc, Marquette, SLU).
Is it better to apply early to Mich?

JR526: It is DEFINTELY best to apply as early as possible to UM. Try to get your application in in October.

You look like you have a great chance. Just try and bump up your ECs a little bit. Your stats are a bit better than mine (also OOS), and I got in really early. Meet the Early Response deadline. gooooooood luck!

I wasn’t aware they were offering an “Early Response” I thought there was only early action or early decision available. I will definitely be applying Early Response then. Thanks a lot!

Apply EARLY! If you look through the threads, many of the kids who applied early had lesser stats, but were admitted, while the ones who had great scores applied late but were deferred. Trust us, you need to apply by mid-October!!! Good luck!

My D has definitely low stats for UM and applied early, and we were pleasantly surprised that she was deferred and not rejected. We’re still waiting for final word
