Admissions closed for holiday?

DD applied on 11/5. It took about two weeks for her transcripts and scores to show up as received on her portal.

It does still say waiting for AP scores, but I don’t think they need them to make a decision, right?

So, UCF has had everything for a couple of weeks. She hasn’t heard anything from them and the portal still says that they are reviewing.

Should we assume at this point that she won’t hear anything until after the new year? Do they shut down when campus is closed?

They don’t need AP scores. I don’t know if the admissions office is closed for their entire break, sorry. Good luck!

Thanks! From what I see on here, it seems those who are accepted hear back within a week or so once admissions has everything. I’m guessing that she may be deferred since she hasn’t heard in 6 weeks…

I wouldn’t say that. Those accepted definitely don’t necessarily hear back within a week or so.

My son’s application was open for several weeks as they awaited the transcript. It seemed to take a few weeks after it was sent to them that they processed it. That happened on Thursday last week and he was accepted yesterday. So, it seems that once they had all of the information that it was very quick for the decision. Also, it appears that they are not closed, as of yesterday.

@Parman37 I know it can take awhile to hear back from admissions while they’re processing everything, but it seems that once your portal says they have received everything, the turn around time is fairly quick for those who are accepted. Deferrals seem to wait longer to hear back… That’s why I’m thinking she may be deferred.
@fl1234 Congrats on your son’s acceptance! We had the same experience with them taking awhile to process. However, they have had everything for a few weeks and she still hasn’t heard. Good to know that you heard yesterday! I’ll cross my fingers that she hears one way or another soon

they’re out from Dec 22 to Jan 2

@denily - give them a call when the office re-opens. Our son’s portal showed “waiting for transcripts” for almost a month, though the high school GC showed us verification that they were received within three days of his application being sent. I called admissions, and they assured me that his documents were indeed received, and that they were a bit behind because of transfer applicant deadlines. Within a few days of my phone call, his portal was updated, and a few days after that, I checked and saw “Congratulations!”…he never even received an email notifying him of a status change, lol
Best of luck!! p.s. - the admissions office was friendly and helpful - just be prepared to be on hold for a while. I got through 30 minutes of a Netflix film while waiting

Just to follow up…
DD got an email on Saturday to check her portal. She was accepted to Summer 2018! GPA is pretty high, but SAT’s are average, so I’m guessing that’s why they offered summer.

Now lots of thinking to do in the next 30 days! She hasn’t heard back from other schools yet and not sure she will before the UCF deadline. And there’s nothing noted about financial aid (if any), it looks like they might not send that until you accept?

She needs to reach out to admissions with her questions asap once they reopen.

I was accepted, but it took longer than a week. If it’s been a week and you haven’t heard back yet, don’t worry about it yet!
