Admissions Decisions Class of 2021

I have to say how disappointed and surprised I am that D was deferred, as an in state student with a 29 (32 reading and 35 English) and a 3.75 weighted (hs doesn’t rank or give honors classes extra weight). She has already been accepted to Purdue, Case Western, and Miami of Ohio (with a scholarship) so she has excellent options. Anyone know the timeline and chances for a deferred candidate? Could D be in the deferred status for so long that she is overlooked for another branch option?

@jaycbee same situation here… Have same question

@Rodddyyy Today!

I got in!!!
ACT: 26
GPA: 4.4 w
OOS
This is a miracle!!!

@oscarmom1 What were your son’s stats?

@Zpower99 Awesome, yeah. Miracle, not as much. You have a great GPA! Congratulations!

@Zpower99 Congrats! Ohio State uses a holistic review of all applicants, so while your ACT was below what they seek, your gpa must have made up for the difference. Or are you an unrepresented minority or from a geographic area that is underrepresented in the student body? Also I bet your gpa put you in the top 10% or at least top 25% of your class with honors and AP courses? The only downside is that your ACT score does not meet the minimum threshold (29) for merit aid (national buckeye). Are you able to afford the outofstate tuition without merit aid? Or might you qualify for needbased aid?

@jaycbee Gpa 4.3 weighted, 1320 SAT. Deferred. In state.

Admitted - 6:45pm - 4.4 gpa, 33 act, in state, engineering (computer science)

@jaycbee he also has a lot of good ECs… Very disappointed. Not sure what happened.

I think my essays helped a lot!

@MilkTreePillow you were right! I got accepted earlier tonight! 4.1 WGPA 31 ACT Full IB Student from VA! So excited!

Bit disappointed that I was deferred, but happy it wasn’t a denial. Hopefully, the second round can go into my favor! Go Bucks!

How do you know if you were a direct admit? I applied to Chem Engineering.

is the result still coming out?

I cannot believe that anyone with a 35 ACT would have been deferred. That does not make sense. I know that Ohio State makes every attempt to have a diverse student body, and certainly recruits from underrepresented areas of the state as well as the country. Good luck to everyone who has been deferred–I hope you all get in! Sorry for the painful wait. I am a mom and this is my second time around. We are from California, and the UCs don’t announce until mid March. Argh! Two more months of this. But my husband and I are Buckeyes, so I am hoping my son chooses Ohio State.

I have yet to here back yet and I applied 10/10/16? Anyone know if they are sending more decisions out or if they are done?

Does anyone know if you can be accepted to the university but rejected from a major? Asking for a friend.

accepted! OMG I am so excited right now!!!

ACCEPTED! 3.8 GPA, 1980 SAT, lots of EC’s. OOS. Feel free to ask questions.
