Hopefully not hard, I got deferred as well yet I have. 29 ACT with 3.79 UW GPA in all honors classes. I got into Indiana which is a way better school for business than OSU. It’s just I’m instate, so they want more money from out of staters.
@dantheman772 I have to disagree about Kelley being a better business school than Fisher. My son is a business scholar at Fisher and picked OSU over Michigan (Ross), Indiana (Kelley), UCLA (business economics) and other great schools and after comparing notes with friends who attend at Kelley and Ross he is very glad he chose OSU. For those willing to do the work and get involved, the OSU business school student/alumni network, professors and business school programs have given him great academic and internship opportunities.
@dantheman772 My son is at Fisher and it is a great program. In my opinion the ROI is better than at Kelley, which costs $48,000 per year vs Fisher at $23,000 per year in-state. $100,000 cost difference over 4 years for you to go outofstate is not worth it when you have a more than adequate in-state business school as Fisher. -Also, Miami Ohio Farmer business school would be another good option for you. And Michigan Ross for outofstate would be $58,000 per year. Not worth spending $140,000 more over 4 years for the privilege of attending Ross over Fisher.
Still in shock I got deferred tbh, OOS, 35 ACT, 3.7 W, 3.3 UW, Eagle Scout, Track Captain, NHS, NROTC, Legacy. I already got accepted to Texas A&M Engineering which is #16 in the country, while OSU is #28.
To everyone who is still waiting: please do not worry! There are tens of thousands of applications and I understand how frustrating it can be! I hope each and every one of you hear soon. As for those who have gotten deferred: OSU looks at more than just ACT scores and GPA rankings. They use a holistic process so an application could have very high stats but their essay and other parts of the application could affect their decisions as well. But good luck to each and everyone of you!
Are there still a lot of early actions that have not received a response yet?
We are still waiting and will give them a call tomorrow.
@kramerismynamer Unfortunately, it sounds like OSU is doing what Michigan and other schools have been doing for years…deferring applicants with high scores because they don’t believe OSU is your first choice and they want a high yield rate (high percentage of accepted students) to increase their ranking. If you are really interested in OSU, I suggest writing your admissions counselor an email immediately giving any updates on grades/honors and most importantly stating OSU is your first choice. Good luck!
@crazyboymom There is no evidence of that, as most of the kids accepted during the initial round had high stats.
Those that are still waiting for a decision on early action may want to call to verify that you are still being considered for it and not regular decision. I called to inquire and found that there was a mistake on their part and it’s being resolved now. Now we’re waiting on an early action decision which will take a little longer now.
So do we suppose to hear the result from osu on this friday?
do u know when will the next wave come out?
Received a letter in the mail today informing that I earned the National Buckeye (12.5k/yr) and the Maximus scholarships (5k/yr)! Very excited!!! BTW I was accepted in the mid-December round

I just got Maximus too! I’m from Ohio: 35 ACT/1580 SAT/ GPA is 5.657 on my school’s scale which has cp classes 4.0, honors 5.0, and AP 6.0 - I’m guessing a 4.9 how more schools do it.
@panic2017 do you know when morill is coming out. And if you dont mind me asking… What were your stats / ecs?
I am also in-state, with a Maximus award ($5k/yr). I have a 36 ACT, class rank 1/389.
@jpc763 @ProjectCrafted Sure thing! I am from NJ. I applied to Morill as well and haven’t heard anything, although I know anything related to diversity is a long shot for me. I think notifications will continue to go out till the end of Febuary, but they only start reviewing your application after you’ve been accepted.
