Admissions Decisions Class of 2021

@greatnessheight same here. my application status still shows evaluation

Same, when I click on the link in the email, it sends me back to the portal, which tells me to check my email. It’s a constant loop, there’s nothing on the portal saying anything about how to go on the wait list.

@tiredhuman ^

So does the wait list mean if I don’t get in when put on it, I have to go to a regional campus? Like HAVE to go there, since I won’t hear back until after May 1, which is the deadline at most schools to enroll.

My D accepted OOS - 28 ACT 3.9 gap and all IB and AP classes

Is it odd if I didn’t receive an email and I’m still showing deferred?

Same for me ^

@dantheman772 i just checked again and the link finally gave the option to have the application be put on the waitlist

I just got rejected with a 29 ACT and 3.6 GPA! Also had AP classes and study abroad during high school in kind of shocked!

My d rejected with 31 ACT. 4 APs, varsity athlete. Tons of leadership and abroad program. Took college fashion courses. Nordstrom fashion board. Wrote letter after being deferred to state it was her first choice. Unreal.

My son from NJ got into OSU back in Nov. stats GPA 3.5 from a nationally ranked HS. ACT 33. Varsity ice hockey 4 years and HS intern for local assemblyman. Honors and AP classes. Major-History.

In Feb he received 14 k a year in merit money. Honors?
OSU is becoming a competitor with Wisconsin and Michigan for really good students. Who would have ever thought this.

There is no rhyme or reason to this process.

ihopeosu, my daughter had very similar scores (plus 3.9 GPA) and also denied. Are you in state? Seems like much easier to get in as OOS. I guess I get that. What I don’t get is why it is so much easier to get in as a transfer student. Let’s face it, average/poor students can get in as transfers. How does pushing top freshman away and then accepting close to anyone as a transfer help the school?

Went from EA deferred to waitlisted. GPA 3.75 and 30 ACT. No longer interested in attending.

@Curious105

Your question on transfer students has a `logical’ answer, though I am sure it won’t make you happy.

OSU is, like most schools, playing the ranking game. Average ACT and fraction of enrollees in top 10% of their HS class are inputs to USNWR rankings – but only for students entering in Fall as freshmen! No ranking system keep tracks of transfers or even the campus change students. The quality of students coming in after entering regional campuses and then doing a campus change after a year can be quite low! OSU needs more students financially but wants to show high stats for students entering Fall semester as freshmen.

By the way, @Curious105 and @ihopeosu: what were the class ranks? Not being in top 10% can be a problem for unhooked candidates and this makes attending a very competitive school a disadvantage. I am sure your qualified children will be very successful despite this setback.

@osuprof do you know what the chances are of getting accepted from the waitlist? and if accepted, will there even be good dorms left?

My son just got waitlisted after being deferred. 36 ACT, NMSF, rigorous course load and engineering internship. He’s deciding between UT Austin and Northeastern with good scholarship. ( thoughts anyone ?).

Our school doesn’t rank at all. And she will indeed find her spot at either U Georgia, Mizzou, U Alabama or Auburn. All with scholarships. And all but Alabama ranked higher than Osu in fashion merchandising. However this was where she saw herself. She loved Dr Rudd in the department and was ok knowing that the department uses mostly non professors to teach. I just really want an answer.

@Curious105

We are OOS. Illinois
It is very disheartening. I honestly wish she was denied from the start.

@oliver17 OSU is probably protecting their yield by not accepting your son. He seems very qualified to attend higher ranked schools than OSU. Has he demonstrated interest to attend OSU? Is OSU is first choice?

@lab99 Thanks for your kind words, but I don’t think that’s the case. His GPA isn’t ideal. His school doesn’t give GPas and they have trimester courses, semester courses and year long courses plus he switched schools in the middle of 10th grade. I’m guessing it’s around a 3.4. with a very strong upward trend. He has shown a lot of interest in OSU. I don’t know what school would be his top choice because he won’t discuss the schools he hasn’t been accepted to. It would definitely be a high contender.
