@setter4life I agree that applying earlier is better of course if an option. The reason I applied regular decision was because I had been denied from a school I applied early decision to and needed to add a few more safer schools as a result. If I had OSU on my initial list, I undoubtedly would’ve applied early action.
@Setter4life Just curious why you suggest applying by October15th? Your post and the OSU webpage says November 1.
@Setter4life Very well said…
The reason you should apply by the middle of October is to minimize many of the situations being posted here. Lots of students applied close to the deadline and many of these applications just “sat” around for whatever reason. Perhaps some test scores did not arrive on time or maybe the letters of the recommendations or transcripts did not post in a timely matter. Some of these applications were not reviewed or considered for scholarships and perhaps admissions. OSU is a very large schools with lots and lots of applications and as much as they tried to be incredibly efficient, I can not imagine that it is far from perfect. This pretty much applies to all the large schools
The best chance to be admitted and considered for scholarships is during the EA window. Keep in mind that some of these decisions were not rendered in the first wave but in some cases , it took three waves to be released. Hopefully many of you who have been wait listed or deferred will hear in the next week or so. Good luck to everyone
My daughter was waitlisted and will attend if accepted. She originally applied EA and will major in political science.
Still says “evaluation”

@neptuna For which county did you win the Land Grant Opportunity Scholarship? Congratulations! Our daughter also received the Land Grant Scholarship, so we are beyond grateful!
@lolomcmomo greattt and nope I most likely would not have a roommate if I am accepted!
So I saw some replies on here a couple days ago saying that their application status still shows in Evaluation. It’s April 4th today and I still haven’t received a decision back. Am I the only one?
I applied RD on January 19th to the main Columbus campus for Industrial Design. I am an Out-of-State student.
Anybody have any clue why OSU still has not given a decision back yet, considering that their website says that Regular Decision applicants should have their decisions back by “End of March”.
@therealrp17 I would suggest you call admissions.
@therealrp17 Mine too still on evaluation
@Fafjoe22 Where did you get the information that all waitlisted people were accepted last year? Also, does anyone know how many were waitlisted this year?
I know that 5,051 students were placed on the waitlist. 1,283 accepted a place and 852 of those students were admitted. I’m wasn’t aware that all 5,051got off the waitlist but if so, I’m curious to see the receipts!
do we know how many were offered a spot this year?
@slayld stay in touch! maybe we can figure something out since we are in the same situation.
Okay so actually, everyone on the waitlist last year was not accepted. I know three people who were waitlisted. They were all sent to Mansfield which is an automatic if not accepted into the main campus
@Snap222 Congrats to your daughter! I’m in Licking.
As of today OSU has accepted way more students by a couple of thousands than they did all of last year… It is all going to come down to how many students commit to the University in the month of April which is usually the largest month of these commitment decisions. They are looking at a class a little bigger than last year based on the amount of students they have admitted. The wait listing situation will not get cleared until they see who is committing from those already admitted.
Waitlisted. GPA 3.8, ACT 26, EC’s and leadership roles. Most likely will NOT attend. OU it is! Good luck everyone. Disappointed with OSU’s admissions.
@Meant2B Alright I think I’ll do that then, I was gonna wait a couple of days after March 31st but it’s already been 5 days so I guess I should call admissions and find out. Thank you.
@ale329 Oh man, that sucks I’ll definitely tell you what Admissions replies with
