I had a friend who applied in september, top 12%, 35 ACT, good ec's and essays and heard back mid october (got in)...

I applied mid october, everything was received by the 15th of october, top 14%, 33 ACT, good ec's, lots of work exp, good essays (all 3)...will i really be waiting until march to hear back?

I am really anxious to know:/. if I get capped I'll just go out of state and not worry about it anymore, but i would just really like to hear back since it would be nice to have UT to fall back on if i decided to stay in state..

So should i keep checking every day, or will it be a while?

looks like your ACT score will secure you an acceptance, and i agree with ag54 that what ever your major may be might cause your acceptance to become delayed

Last year, my son (who was in the top 7%) applied in September and wasn’t accepted until January. Even though he was an auto-admit, his records did not indicate he was admitted until he was admitted into a major -Aerospace Engineering. My guess is the delay was because Engineering is a restricted major.

I see…I applied for first choice Biology (natural sciences) and second choice Psychology (liberal arts) and i don’t think those two schools are as competitive as engineering so does that mean i should expect to hear soon or no?

I don’t think they will begin to process most non-top 10% apps. until the application deadline-Dec.15. Until then, they really don’t know how many spaces are available. My guess is that you’ll hear something in January. If you still haven’t heard by the time your 7th semester ranking is available, it wouldn’t hurt to turn in an updated transcript (if your rank improves). My son’s rank was 6.7% in September and 5.6% in January, so he sent in a new transcript “just in case” -not only for admissions, but for scholarship possibilities. Even though the application deadline had passed, his bealonghorn rank was updated. We wondered if the new rank is what prompted the acceptance.
