Kosuke,

I just have to write to congratulate you on your acceptance. I have been on pins and needles, hoping you would get your dream!

My son got his fat envelope in TN today; so neat to see the lounging Sage Hen on the return address!

All the best to you and to other admittees!

waitlisted

Rejected... :( Now, I can only hope for CMC, anyone else apply there? I did get in to Pepperdine today, however.
ACT - 30
GPA - ~4.1w (3.844uw)
ECs - good, i thought...
Recs - only saw 1, and it was good. don't know about the other

Congrats Kosuke!!! I was nervous for you, too!

I was anxious to open my mailbox today... and there were many big fat envelopes-- too bad none were for me. No thin envelopes for me either, so I guess that's good. We'll see tomorrow!!! yikes!

Congratulations to all!! Collegeboundjen, my D is in the same boat as you, rejected Pomona, accepted at Pepperdine and waiting on CMC. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both. Is CMC your first choice now?

My S got the fat envelope today. And the fin aid was quite nice.

I got waitlisted, which makes me EXTREMELY proud of myself (even though odds are...I wont get in later on)

A huge congratulations to those who were accepted.

Those who were waitlisted as well: You are all prodigies in my eyes and I'm sure you'll be somewhere great and you'll love it!

I'm praying for Pitzer. Go Claremont Colleges!

I got the huge envelope in the mail today. OH MAN! i've been celebrating for hours.
I'm pretty surprised i got in. I thought I wasn't going to get in so i blocked it out of my mind for the last month.
My SAT: 1360
SAT II: 760/710/670
GPA: 4.13
I didn't have any extra curriculars until junior year, but they're okay now.

I think my interview, my letters of rec and my essays got me in. They were all really good. Also, the fact that I was born in Mexico probably helped.

And the financial aid isn't bad either. I wasn't expecting any.

Congrats to all others that got in!

spikedsoymilk: im in the same position as you. just proud to make the waitlist, now waiting on pitzer. the other schools i applied to definitely have psychological advantage now, pitzer is taking so long.

Accepted

SAT:1460 (800 V, 660 M)
SAT II: 780 Wr, 750 USHist, 730 Chem
GPA: 4.0 uw (4.63 w)
Class Valed., first generation, all 5's on AP exams, did high school in FL but lived all my life prior in Michigan (so i dont know if that still counts as a geographical tip), IB program, leadership in ec, state-level awards in French, karate

still waiting-anyone in new jersey hear

I'm in Los Angeles, I got it during spring break last week.
Full scholarship too.
SAT: 1430
SAT II: 650, 730, 710
APs: calc-5, Lang-4, Chem-4
GPA: 4.22
Good Essay, Great Recs and Ecs

Congrats everybody else who got in also!!!

a full scholarship? I think i may have gotten that as well but I'm actually still trying decipher the financial aid letter, did your sjust have a pell grant, pomona scholarship, and pomona college employment program?

rock--> I got the Cal Grant also since I live in California
Did your financial aid packet cover everything?

it was this (year total):

Federal Pell Grant 4050
Pomona Scholarship 37,574
Student Employment 1,700

Total 43,324

the letter said the award is based on a total estimated cost of $43,374 inc. travel, which is only 50 shy so yeah, i guess so. but elsewhere in the financial aid packet it said that we can expect to have loans of 4-5 k for junior and senior year, so I'm still looking at about 10 k of debt/loans (which is realllly good i know compared to most)

my package was similar with the Pomona Scholarship covering about $30,000 and cal grant covering the rest. I'm looking at Pomona as a 3rd choice behind Stanford. I doubt I'll get into any of the Ivy Leagues I applied to.

I was accepted.

I have 35 ACT, SAT IIs of:
790 Writing
780 Biology
770 US History
670 World History
640 Literature

GPA of 3.95 UW
Class rank 2/97 at an average public school
Now that I've re-read my essays I think they are bad.
One excellent rec, one unknown rec (probably pretty good)
Decent ECs - I did mention that I cofounded a student newspaper - that's probably what put me over the edge
