Admissions Decisions

Is it true that some deferred students may find out about their admissions decisions before the April 1st deadline? I
ve heard some current UGA students claim that they found out in late February last year. Have any of you recently found out whether or not you
ve been accepted?

The UGA faculty tells me that those rumors are inaccurate. It would be nice to know by the end of February though, but I strongly doubt that we, those deferred, will get to know that soon.

Thanks for replying! I was really doubtful that we'd find out in February. But, April 1st is a ridiculously long time to wait. I don't know about you but by then, I'll have just a little over a month until I graduate and if I'm not accepted, I'll be really late with deposits and housing for my second choice.

Hey! I got in today!

I am so excited! I was accepted today also. So everyone should know that students may or may not find out about their UGA admissions decision before April 1st.

Congrats! Why did we find out so early?

Can you post stats and date you completed application.

Well I applied early action and I think I finished part one of my application in late September. I know that I finished Part Two January 2nd after I found out that I'd been deferred. I have a 3.8 GPA, and my total SAT score was 1840; CR 580, M 600, & W 660. My SAT scores weren't the highest, but I know my essays were really good and I am a VERY active student.

As for why we found out early, I'm not so sure. But I was reading some of the posts from this time last year and students were finding out in late February 2007 also.

Did you apply for the Honors program?
I know my friend found out that he was accepted recently also, probably around the same time as you, but he didn't apply early...

I guess it's helpful to note that I did and have yet to receive an acceptance letter.

Well, I didn't apply for the Honors program. But you should know that I'm the only student to find out about my decision out of about ten in my class that were deferred. Many of my classmates are just as qualified to be admitted to UGA and they still haven't found out.

i got in yesterday (online) and today (in the mail). i don't know relative to anyone else since i live in san diego and i don't know anyone else in california who applied to uga. eee! i'm excited! also, i didn't apply early, so i didn't find out early because of deferment or anything.

Gah... this is frustrating! I guess UGA's employees don't know anything either. I'm happy for those that got accepted already, but I have yet to hear from them after being deferred for Early Action. After waiting this long, I hope I get accepted. If not, I'm going to have to settle for my back-up college, but I wish I would know much earlier. This way, I could get a good dorm hall at my back-up college. It still says my credentials are being reviewed. I'm a big UGA fan, and getting accepted would be nice. I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait.

Congrats to those that got accepted! (:

Anyone know if theres any order to the decisions? One of my friends applied right around the regular deadline and found out, and I had all my info in by Dec 15. Is that a bad sign for me? We had similar stats.

Not to disappoint you sam, but I think so. I mean... the only reason I've not heard back from UGA, even though I did EA and finished the RD way before the deadline and still not heard back because of my SAT scores. Everything else is fine.

Hey guys! I didnt apply to Honors and my SAT scores weren't spectacular (1820/2400). My essays were funny/ entertaining according to everyone who read them though. I also had decent ECs, but nothing out of the ordinary. You guys shouldn't worry about it- according to past posters, UGA does this every year.

Good Luck!

Daughter got her acceptance on March 1st.
SATs 700cr 590 math 600 writing 3.9GPA
Co-capt of cross country team, Co-editor of year book
yada, yada, yada... good ECs but nothing spectacular.
Good luck everyone it shouldn't be too much longer.

Anyone know if they release decisions on a weekly basis or should those of us who have not heard back yet not worry until April 1st to check.

I guess they realize them on a weekly basis, so I am checking every day to see if they have updated my application status.

They release some acceptances early but only a small amount.

UGA just announced on-line that their on-line status check is closed until 4:30 PM on March 28.
