Interesting that none of the acceptees so far hails from the northeast (unless I missed one). This does sound unusual as the packets have usually gone out on March 30 or 31.

Other stuff that might have helped: I'm very good in interviews, I had really good recommendations, I have a passion for history and it shows throughout my application, and yeah.

congrats! Have you gotten any other likely letters or early acceptances?

I have a general question for those accepted (congratulations again!), and anyone else who may have insight: do you think creative writing awards and publication in literary magazines (both school-sponsored awards/publications and national awards/publications) would be helpful to those that may not have the highest stats in admission to Wesleyan? I've been hearing mixed ideas about whether or not Wes is very strict about numbers. Can anyone share any experiences to ease the worried mind of a junior? :-D

I don't think not hearing anything is bad at all. I'm just surprised that a small number of students are receiving RD acceptance letters this soon. My daughter looks statistically like the twin of sgtpepper08, but with somewhat higher SATs and slightly lower class rank and with a passion for biology instead of history (although she had the identical USH SATII score). Of course, at a school as competitive as Wesleyan that doesn't mean much. In addition to being "statistically competitive" it appears that Wesleyan admissions really wants to get to know who the applicants are, what makes them tick and what they will bring that is unique to the Class of 2012. Since Wesleyan has already admitted sgtpepper08 does that mean her "twin" isn't needed? Maybe, maybe not. We'll find out soon enough.

Accepted! The packet just came today. I'm from Puerto Rico ^_^

Ahh, I'm so jealous of everyone who found out already. Anyone notice a link between the accepted students thus far (besides the fact that they are all amazingly qualified and awesome :) )? Like, geographic diversity? Racial diversity? A common major/area of interest? Just curious as to why Wes sent out such an early wave of acceptances.

ahh, has anyone recieved any sort of notice from NY, NJ, PA, MA, CT, etc?

Got the acceptance this morning - I'm in California too.

It appears that Wesleyan may have sent acceptances to those who may have to arrange airfare to attend the open house for admitted students. Airfares booked at least 14 days before the flight date is always cheaper. Booked a month in advance is even better. Sgtpepper08 is from NJ, though.

URM's are often notified first or people with awesome stats that the college hopes they can lock down by an early packet.

hudsonvalley, i'm from NYC and I got one today.

It looks like something like this happened last year too. On March 21, 2007 a CC member wrote that a message had appeared on a list-serve on the Wesleyan website. Part of that message, said to be from a Wesleyan admissions officer, was:

"while many of you have already received your admission packets, the
vast majority of letters (all decisions) have yet to be sent and
access to this listserve, unfortunately, does not indicate
admission. We expect to notify the rest of the Class of 2011 by mail
next Friday, March 30th which means letters will land the early the
following week."

I don't know if this helps in pinpointing when the bulk of the RD decisions will be mailed this year, but it does confirm that what is happening this week is not unique. Also, if you read some of the post from last March it seems that there was little rhyme or reason as to who received early acceptance letters and who did not.

Got the package today... Accepted!! I'm from California, looks like the letters have hit the West Coast.

@NeuroticSenior
I got mine yesterday in Delaware.
