What time of day does OSU update the online decision thing? (so I don’t go on and check like every hour)

I have heard a few people mention 4 pm.

I saw this posted by Northstarmom on another thread:

“The dreadful economy is causing many more students to apply to and attend in-state public universities, many of which are rolling admissions, and their admissions standards increase as their classes fill up. If you haven’t applied to your in-state publics, you need to do so immediately.”

I’m thinking that maybe Northstarmom may be right—it seems to me that many qualified students that are getting deferred are being held to a higher standard than those that got their apps in earlier? Something to think about for my daughter 4 years from now.

Umm what the hell?!?!?

“We regret to inform you that you have not been admitted to The Ohio State University. You will receive further information by mail. Thank you for your interest in Ohio State.”

I managed to get DEFERRED at STANFORD, but I got outright REJECTED from OSU? Sorry Ohio State, but I wasn’t using you as a safety. You WERE my second choice.

what the heck??

^You’ve got to be kidding! That does not make any sense. All I can say is thank God I went in the 80s because I never would have gotten in today.

I had similar stats to ShampooSwallower (GPA was a little lower) and I didn’t get in either. I guess being out of state kills.

Soo…who exactly ARE they accepting then?

Wow. That’s a tad insane. I mean, I know only 11% of the student body is out of state, but jeeze with those stats that’s just down right ridiculous.

I got in with a lower ACT score (29) and a crappy GPA (3.4) and I’m out of state. Your essay must have been REALLY bad or something because I’m pretty sure you qualify for a lot of OSU scholarships…

My essay was not bad. I made a creative acrostic of the word “Columbus” and each letter stood for a reason that the school/community was a match for me. I also touched on things I wanted to contribute to OSU since it’s such a big exciting place.

I think I’m going to call and ask if they’ll tell me why they didn’t take me. I don’t think I’ll be able to attend my first choice, so I really really want to go to OSU and really don’t see ANY weak point in my profile here.

Oddly enough, I got rejected from Illinois too, and postponed at Wisconsin. The Big Ten hates me. ='(

shampooswallower… could it have something to do with where you live? but i thought most schools would want to be diverse… sorry though, you should have gotten in :(

Accepted!

I was a CC transfer student applying for the Spring Quarter. I had a 3.71, OOS, City/Regional Planning major in the Knowlton School of Architecture.

Go Bucks! :)

I found out today that a kid that goes to my school (with worse stats than mine – listed a few pages back) got into honors. This is ridiculous.

shampoo your stats are ridiculous i dont understand how you got in.
i’m from texas with stats not as great as yours and got in with honors.
i’d call them if i were you

My stats were waaayyyy worse (3.5, 28 act) and I got in. You need to call and ask.

If a school thinks, based on your grades, etc., that it’s safety for you, they sometimes won’t admit you. This may be the case.

ShampooSwallower I feel your pain. I am OOS from MN and was rejected with a 2380 SAT. How? I have no clue. Perhaps they too believed I was applying only for the fact that I was using it as a safety. Oh well. I will move on to the Ivys. Lol.

It was pretty obvious I wasn’t in when I saw “decision” as my status instead of “admitted.” Knocked another one off the list =/

nahhht great EC’s
good number of AP classes, also good number of 1’s and 2’s on the exams =X

Just got deferred today.

OOS, White male, sent a 29 ACT, 3.5 UW, great ECs. The only thing I didn’t do was the essay, which they told me was optional.

I don’t recall the OSU essay being “optional.” Who told you that? Anyone else have any input on this?
