pretty sure that was required. you probably would have been admitted because ohio state appears to be a match for you based on your stats

They sent me something like a VIP application. It was 3 pages, the first was my info, the second was my parents info, and the third was the optional paragraph on why I wanted to go to OSU, only other thing was I had to send my transcript and test scores. I didn’t really have anything spectacular to say since I forgot what I liked about the campus. (visited my freshman year with my sister) Kinda weird that they ask me to apply then defer me.

Checked this morning and found out DD is deferred. After reading all the rejections here lately, I see it as a win as I was preparing for rejection.

Stats (as if they matter)

Instate
White Female
3.681 gpa from rural Ohio school which sends 1-2 to Ohio State per year
Honors and 2 years PSEO (will transfer 34 credit hours from another state flagship)
26 ACT
Would be 3rd generation legacy
Declared Biology major

Planning to write a follow up interest letter and just wait it out. The site said she’d be notified by the end of March.

Is being tentatively optomistic outlandish? Good luck to those waiting to hear. Also forgot to mention, pressed the button at the kick off of the Ohio State-Michigan game for luck.

Ahh! Did you tell them where else you were applying? Because colleges are trying to watch admitting those people who are just so obviously applying to them as ultimate safeties.

I got in… not super surprised but happy. 4.0 wgpa, 3.5 unweighted… 2130 SATs… national merit semifinalist… and pretty decent work and extracurricular experience. I wonder if I can get into the honors program?

My friend got deferred and everyone in our school is in shock, she’s got pretty much the same stats as me but she’s black, which should help her, not hurt her? OSU is being weird about admissions this year, I think.

I think, surprisingly, that OSU puts a good deal of weight on the essay. They are looking for students who not only have good stats, but that also truly want to be a Buckeye and convey that in their essay somehow. My son is borderline on his stats, applied on Oct. 31st and still hasn’t heard anything back. They have called him several times and always ask if OSU is his first choice. Keeping our fingers crossed.

um…I was shocked.
I got in with a 24(32 in math, which means terrible in other sections…)
I had great essay, lots of EC and art awards…OUT OF STATE

Decision: Admitted :)

Stats:
White female
Out of state
2150 SAT
4.62 weighted GPA
5 APs

Ohio State is more on the safety side for me, but I’d definitely be delighted if I end up there!

Oh and also my major is International Business :)

ADMITTED!!! It was really nice to get that feeling where you can’t stop smiling, since I’ve been struck with the tears (not literally) of rejection from SEVEN OTHER SCHOOLS before finally getting my FIRST acceptance: OSU!!

Really don’t know what set me apart hahah, was definitely planning for the thin envelope:

White Male- Seattle, Washington
GPA: 3.03
ACT: 27 both times (12 writing, somehow)
Rank: Top 40%, or real close to it.
7 AP’s, Lots of Honors Classes
Pretty lame EC’s not gonna lie: job, couple sports, a few lame clubs that probably weren’t that impressive

So psyched guys!! Congratulations to everyone who got in, and good luck to those who didn’t!!

Oh, probably coming to OSU too.

Congratulations on your first acceptance, BradyBoy. You’ll have fun being a Buckeye. Caution though, my roommate in college was from Castle Rock, Colorado and once she came to Ohio she never left (you know with that Midwest allure and all).

@BradyBoy: Did you attend a competitive school? Which program did you apply to? No disrespect intended, but with stats like those, my hopes have been raised a little.

^ No offense taken hahah. Nah, my school is a large public school, but I wouldn’t say it’s that competitive. I think about 57% of graduates go to a 4-year, and 21% to a 2-year.

I applied for the Explorations program, although I’m reasonably certain that I’m gonna try to go for Fisher once I get there.

And no offense or anything (I haven’t seen your stats), but I wouldn’t get hopeful just because of this one acceptance. There were kids with 3.8’s/34 ACT’s getting rejected. Besides the fact that Washington might be an underrepresented state, with all honesty I have no legit explanation for why I got in. I almost feel like they screwed up =/.

Hey so I have been accepted as a transfer to OSU. I checked my application status and it said that I have been admitted. This was four days ago. Anyone have any idea how long it takes for the acceptance to come in the mail?
Thanks.

Online: 1/7

Letter: 1/11

I’m now pushing towards my 17th week of waiting.

Scratch that. I just checked it right now.
Rejected.
Oh well.

■■■■■ i got rejected today XD

oh well lolz i got in like 9 other big ten schools

what other big tens did you get into?

deferred today. 3.4, 28 ACT in-state. Poly-sci. Any idea about what chances are once deferred?

I found out my decision by mail about a month ago, but i`ll still post for others.

Female / Black / New York (Out of State)
SAT - 1920 ACT - 28
Molecular Genetics Major
HIGHLY competitive school . Rank 14/104
Taking all Honors classes but only one AP
Great Essay – Bad EC’s besides the fact that I am in the National Honor Society.
