Admissions Deposit

I have to remind my parents to pay the admission deposit soon. I want to be sure that I tell them the correct fee.

I know that the Admission Deposit is $200, however, FSU states that....

"The admissions deposit and orientation payment must be received no later than Friday, May 1, 2009."

So does this mean that the Admission Deposit is a separate deposit from the orientation payment?

Yes, they are different.

You must first pay the admissions deposit ($200) - can do it online at [fsu admissions | admission deposit](http://www.admissions.fsu.edu/fees)

Then you can register/pay for orientation - can do it online and learn more at [fsu.edu | orientation](http://www.orientation.fsu.edu)

Just curious, what happens if you don’t pay it by May 1st?
I mean, that would be awefully unfortunate if someone missed it out of like, forgetfullness. Haha

Your admission gets revoked…

Thank you.

If I pay $200 for the admissions deposit, how much is the orientation payment? I can’t find it.

I believe the Orientation Fee is $35.

Orientation is 90 dollars.

larry, they don’t let you get to the orientation info until you pay the deposit :(.

Thanks, everyone!

Sunnyflorida, I had concluded that that was the case. And, I think waiting until after the admissions deposit is paid before telling us the orientation cost isn’t a good strategy…

Lets say my dad had waited until May 1st to pay the $200 Admissions deposit, and then found out he had to pay $90 more by the end of the day. That won’t work out too well.

Again, thanks everyone!

The orientation fee covers the students meals for, I believe, 2 breakfasts and 1 (maybe 2) lunches and one dinner. It covers two nights in the dorm. There is a fee for meals for parents, but they can attend and I am pretty sure not pay for meals if they want to save money. Parents attending orientation IS OPTIONAL. Those parents who are not interested can stay home. Those who really want to get a feel for FSU can attend.

The fee increase must be relatively recent.

can the deposit be paid online? so I can wait till last day of april to pay

Sometimes waiting until the last possible day to pay online will result in the payment site being down, or some sort of glitch. I would pay with at least 2-3 days to spare. You don’t want to loose your spot waiting, only to experience technical difficulties resulting in your inability to meet the deadline.

Okay, I paid my deposit, and the orientation fee.
They tack on a 5$ convienience fee… Which I guess I understand…not really.
My mother and myself are going to orientation, and altogether with the fees, meals, and actual orientation payment, it totalled out to be like $135…
Kind of ridiculous, but, alright lol.
Ooh also remember parents don’t get to stay in the dorms, from what it looks like, parents have to get a hotel room?

Yes parents are required to get their own room. There are a lot of local hotels, some even recommended by FSU. However, if your budget is an issue you can find some very cheap “hotels” within 5-10min of the campus. Some friends and I stayed at one for preview and it wasn’t that bad at all; albeit we slept in our sleeping bags on top of the sheets lol.

If you pay payments by check you can avoid the $5 convenience fee.
