So on Cal Poly’s website it says that all applicants will be notified on or before April 1st about their admissions decision. Does anyone know what the earliest you can hear back from them is? Will applying earlier give you a better chance at hearing back earlier? Thanks!
My son received his acceptance e-mail on February 17th. According to other posters, they released during a similar time frame in the previous years as well. Cal Poly released their notifications in waves starting a little earlier than that and finishing a few days later. Supposedly, they released them by college… I never verified that, but there is a thread on this board that would make it easy to check.
The date of your application will have no bearing on the date of acceptance notification. Cal Poly was very systematic in their notifications last year. With some other schools, that was not the case.
Glad to hear I likely won’t have to wait until April, thanks for the info!
They start Mid-February but will continue on a rolling basis until Early March. The usual sequence is OOS applicants hear first, followed by in-state and then over the rest of February, sporadic acceptances followed by Waitlisted applicants and Denials. (At least that has been the pattern for the last few years starting with each College alphabetically, but last year their decisions were kind of all over the place).
Applying early does not give you an advantage.
Traditionally they do it in waves. OOS first. Then in drops and drabs. Takes about 2 weeks. After this years fiasco, to telling how it will be handled going forward…
