I saw that someone started an OSU admissions decision thread last year so I thought I’d start one for the class of 2023. (Current high school seniors who have applied EA or are in the process of applying).
We should put some basic info in like other similar threads!
Student Gender:
Home State:
Date Applied:
Date Accepted:
Have you visited the campus?:
Major:
Any else you’d like to mention: your info!!
When do they typically start to announce?
Usually after Thanksgiving going forward if applying Early Action.
Reading the admissions decision thread from last year, it seems like the first round of decisions came in the Friday before Thanksgiving, which would be November 16 this year. Then the following rounds of decisions came in every other Friday after that. Not sure if that’s how it will be done this year.
Anyway, good luck to everyone applying!
Two years ago, S17 applied on 10/06/16 and was accepted on 11/18/16.
This year, S19 applied on 10/12/18. He hopes for an answer before Thanksgiving.
Good luck to all!
Copying and Pasting This From Another Thread:
"My eldest son is currently a junior at Ohio State and he submitted his out-of-state freshman application on September 11, 2015 and his portal changed from Evaluation to Admitted on Friday, November 20, 2015. Thus, it appears that this is the usual time-frame for the first wave of decisions to be released.
My youngest son submitted his freshman app on October 11, 2018 and we are patiently waiting like everyone else."
Seems that the date for the first wave of admissions in recent cycles has been the Friday before the week of Thanksgiving which means we may hear something back on Friday, November 16, 2018 if past is prologue.
@fatherof2boys yep, that sound right. Then the rounds would come every 2 weeks after November 16th into January.
@STEM2017 i hope i hear in the first round too but we’ll see

If they release decisions like they have the past few years, EA decisions should come out:
November 16
November 30
December 14
December 28 (Heard they might take off for winter break?)
January 11
January 25
Do they send an email or do you just need to keep checking the portal?
Does everyone’s application status go immediately from incomplete to evaluation once all the documentation is posted or is there another status possibility such as complete but not yet to the evaluation process?
@mommamo1 you need to check the portal on the day decisions come out.
@OhioMother mine went straight from incomplete to evaluation
@OhioMother my son’s also went from incomplete to evaluation. Just nice to see that they have everything they need, and nothing got lost.
when should we start to hear from OSU
See posts 2, 3, 4, and 9 above.
