Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

I too was wondering if son should pay deposit to secure housing before getting potential scholarship. Don’t want to have any effect on possible merit offer.

Does anyone have an idea when the scholarship/honors information will be sent?

@iamamom3 from past threads they start notifying in December through February.

My son is a history major and loves the program. The advisers are amazing and the opportunities are great. He works very hard but is so happy. Go Bucks

Is there an admitted students class of 2023 thread yet?

This was a post from last year,… “The AO stated that results come out once per month this year (instead of more often, and I THINK the AO said it was only on Friday’s, but I’m not positive)”
I was hoping for the end of this month for another batch, but it looks like it will be around the 14th or 21st of December.

Anyone have different info?

@limdmom last year’s thread had the 2nd wave coming out a month later.

@orthomab That’s great to hear your son loves the history program. My son, was accepted on Friday. He intends to major in history. Waiting to hear on the Scholar program.

@collegemom9 so should I not expect to receive a decision on the 30th of November? I thought I read somewhere that the 2nd wave of decisions were supposed to come out on November 30th. All this waiting is killing me!

@oj2018 I looked at last years and they didn’t come out until the 12/15 :frowning: Things change from year to year though so maybe you’ll hear sooner!

From tOSU website…

I’ll consider anything before Jan 31 a gift.

Awe man): that’s so unfortunate. I really don’t want to wait another month for decisions. OSU has been my dream school since I was so young. And as an instate student, it’s so competitive to get in. It’s the perfect school for me. Fits all my criteria…sigh.

Status: Denied
Residency: In State
Major/College of Choice: Aerospace Engineering
Class Rank: N/A
Unweighted GPA: 3.2
ACT/SAT: 31
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Puerto Rican/Mexican
Miscellaneous: on the Common Application my son wrote an additional essay explaining that he was diagnosed with ADD his sophomore year (hence the low GPA) but once he started medication his grades improved and carried a 3.8 his junior year (taking advanced & AP classes)

He’s disappointed but I’m trying to believe that everything happens for a reason and where he ends up will be where he is supposed to be.

Wow, sorry to hear. This was the first time someone reported getting denied. Good luck to your son at his other school options.

Not sure if this helps @OhioMom6 but can you even guess at your DS’s class rank? I know of students from past years with similar stats that were told it was their class rank that was the deciding factor. Also, because he wanted engineering, the math score of his ACT was likely a factor as well. I wish him all the best and know there are other great schools that will welcome him as an engineering student!

@Cheeringsection my school doesn’t provide class rank because it is a highly competitive high school, so is class rank really a deciding factor? Or is it only a factor for students applying that do have a rank?
