Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

My friend was in the second wave and his portal wasn’t updated until 10pm

@STEM2017 true, but this isn’t exactly an uneducated guess. Last year January decisions were released about this time. So I’m hopeful for that, lol.

I’m hoping with you @equationlover !

getting tired of waiting, I do think that it is not fair that some got decisions in November, while we are still waiting after more than 2 months, even though I submitted the application in early October. This is not well organized at all.

My portal has not changed to “evaluation.” It still says that my application is being processed and to check back at a later date. I am not able to get a clear answer from admissions on this. Has anyone received a decision even though their portal did not change to evaluation? I feel like I’m going to get deferred.

@Andie8172 I don’t think that’s indicative of a negative response, or you probably would have received the deferral in an earlier wave. If anything, it might be because you didn’t meet the EA deadline or something?

Just looked at DS portal- he was Deferred.

Visited campus.
UGH!

Thank you! I checked to make sure that I met the EA deadline, so I’m not sure what is going on. Thanks for your positive response!

@Salemlaxmom oh that does not make me feel good. Any extra curriculars?

@caclcjunkie123 Yes, lacrosse 4 yrs, NHS, volunteering, exchange student, has an AFROTC scholarship (don’t know if they considered that in his app or not bc he had to email admissions counselor after 1st of year since he got it week before Christmas).

And, after 2 months they still have to Defer kids?

I think most deferrals happen in the late rounds. I think that’s why we are all scared. At least that’s how the rounds were last year. Praying for a friend man! @Salemlaxmom

I’m in state; applied engineering, I still am under evaluation

@XzarPak I don’t think that’s 100% true. There were only like sixteen posters on the forum last year for that round of decisions. So that could just 100% be from sample size…

ADMITTED TO COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING!!

I was using what other people said. They said that they defer to see if rolling admissions has hyper par candidates in comparison. Considering how many people they accept, you don’t even see many deferrals or denials even though it’s around 50%. In your case though, you should be fine, like you live in state lol.

Say hypothetically i am accepted today, would i find out with my admissions decision that i received the Morrill scholarship or would i have to wait longer for that decision?

Is this the last round of decisions for EA applicants?

I think it’s second to last. @Andie8172

Today may or may not be the last EA wave, but there is a good chance that it is (if not, you will have a decision by Jan 31). As for scholarships and scholars/honors, I believe they notify you of that at least a week later, maybe longer

nervous to check
