Still stuck in evaluation
I’m annoyed
@NewSR1 don’t let high GPA’s fool you. I am a valedictorian if my class with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.45 Weighted GPA and still got deferred. Although I do have a lower ACT by the standards here I was still hopeful. I feel asl if I’m defined as an ACT score from Ohio State and it’s not right. There’s so much more to me than a score.
For those who got accepted, congrats!!! Does anyone know of good social media groups or anything like that to find a roommate? I requested to join the facebook page but it’s taking them a while to accept me. Thanks!
I met the early action deadline. Anyone know why my application is still being evaluated??
I am still under “evaluation” too. The Portal indicates all materials are received with EA status. Just called admissions. They looked up the app and come to find out, the high school did not send their part in until mid November, therefore, I was moved regular decision status since not all items were received in time, even though the portal does not indicate that. This may very well be the case for anyone else in “Evaluation” status. Hope this helps.
I’m guessing that’s what happened to me too.
@NewSR1 I am going to agree that OSU favors high GPA’s over ACT’s based on my son’s experience last year. He was accepted as a Direct Admit to Fischer, admitted into the Scholars program, yet students with slightly higher GPA’s and lower ACT’s were given merit/Buckeye over my son. Other things may have come into play (i.e., how many male students from our school admitted in the program) however, I was told by one staff member that GPA and course rigor are up at the top of their list of priorities.
It’s interesting the different takes on acceptance. My daughter has a high GPA and her Act score is not as good as most. She will have 15 varsity letters when she graduates, involved in everything under the sun, works a job. She’s hardly had a second a free time in four years. For her we definitely think her act hurt her. You will not find a harder worker, she gives 110% always, yet she’s always been a poor standardized test taker. I think it’s sad that an all around student who has great grades, involved, works can’t get into the college they love makes me sad for everyone who doesn’t get into the school of their choice.
@oj2018 I am the one who called and was told all applications were reviewed but it definitely felt like I was being lied to. You are certainly not the only one who feels like something fishy is going on.
@HopefulBuckeye Thank you so much! OSU’s admissions process has been so stressful that at this point a big part of me wants to go to Case… but the appeal of OSU is that it’s also a very good school and would cost me half of what CWRU would. My only hope for Case is a full tuition scholarship I applied for. I’m hoping I’ll recieve good news from one of the schools by the end of March, but I’ll keep everyone updated regardless of what I hear. Fingers crossed!
Were we supposed to receive an email saying our app status has been updated?
@ohiogirl1 I know there’s a facebook page but I’m not sure if you can find roommates on there. If you hear anything though put it in this thread because I’m wondering the same thing too
Does anyone know what kind of applicants apply RD? I want to know what I’m up against as deferred, I feel like the highly ambitious applicants apply EA but I guess you never know! Still, I wish everyone good luck!
Does anyone know when they will start releasing the next batch of applications and how often?
OSU is my dream school, both brothers are about to graduate from there just as my uncles and aunts and my parents. It’s ridiculous how many people were deferred even though they’ll claim every application was looked at. My heart is slowly fading away for the university I grew up loving.
@datdudetd When I called admissions they told me there would be announcements mid to late February and then again in March. However it’s important to note that decisions will come via snail mail and not through the portal. I got deferred too so I know it’s tough to stay positive, but just remember a deferral isn’t a yes or no- you’ve still got a shot. Good luck!!
@clairescho18 Thanks for the update. The ‘snail mail’ thing makes no sense. Why would they shift? Must mean more work for them. Whatever.
@TayMarie Yayyyyy!!! I knew it! I knew it! Many congrats to you. I was so hopeful, and I’ve been waiting for you to post that you were admitted! As soon as I saw your post, I screamed to my daughter, “TayMarie got in!!” ??
As far as Honors & Scholars, my daughter was admitted on 1/18, and she just got an email last night advising that she accepted to the Honors program.
Thanks for the info @clairescho18 Haven’t lost hope, read typically a good chance to get in if deferred initially. I’ve just been extremely eager to hear the final decision.
@OSU1stChoice Wow thank you so much!!!??
