Applications have just started being considered, so to make it easier for the Class of 2015 applying to University of Minnesota, feel free to share what decision you got as well as background information such as (but not limited to) GPA and test scores (at your discretion) so that others can gauge how they stack up.

For those who got accepted or god forbid, denied, feel free to share as much information as you deem fit as well. Almost any information in admissions would be advantageous.

For those reading the replies, take most with a grain of salt. The admissions process isn't as straightforward as it may seem, and numbers alone won't determine your outcome in most cases. If you feel alienated by the scores and extracurriculars reported, remember that you applied because you had a chance. A chance is all you can ask for besides admission.

If I may speak for all, we thank you for sharing your valuable information as we eagerly anticipate decisions. Good luck to all, keep your head down, and charge through senior year!

I stole the formatting from an NYU RD thread. I saw my decision on the application tracker this morning!

Congratulations, akacesfan! If you don’t mind my asking when did you apply? My D applied end of August so trying to gauge where they are in the rolling decision process. She also applied to CLA. Thanks!

@Mamelot I sent my application in August. I sent in my transcripts to the university in late August, so I think they got all my stuff in early September or late August.

Thanks for letting me know @akacesfan. So D is a couple weeks behind you in terms of getting everything in (transcripts, etc.). I don’t think she was prepared to hear anything this early on but it is good to know that they’ve begun the decision-making process already.

Just an FYI so no one gets discouraged…I have watched this for the past 4 years and the out of state admissions group has communicated acceptances earlier than in state apps (and yes, I am also talking about tippy top scoring kids). The best part of the acceptance mailing is the envelope!

My application was complete on 9/23 and I received my admission on 8/26, which is unbelieveably fast.

My application was complete on 9/23 and I received my admission on 9/26. I’m still shocked that they reviewed my application so quickly, but I’m extremely pleased with both the admissions team as well as their transfer counselors, who were extremely kind and helpful to me when I called. I’ve already submitted my intent to enroll form and, as of right now, Minnesota seems like the best option for me, so I’m super excited!

Wow - congrats, @rockingthequest!!! Are you planning to compete in weightlifting at the collegiate level? We know of an athlete locally (HS level) who was accepted into UMTC at the very beginning of the school year and will be continuing his athletic career there. In your case with your strong academic record it would likely only have been a matter of time anyway but how great to get the good news right away.

If any of you have questions about your specific application, here is a link that might get you closer to a live person versus the generic admissions phone number.

Thanks, @mamelot! I’m not sure what sort of accommodations or facilities UMTC has, but I would proudly represent them at University Nationals. If you don’t mind, can you PM me your friends email, if possible? I would love to meet fellow Olympic weightlifters and perhaps start a club!
