I was also accepted to the honors program, if that helps anyone curious about notification time for that.

Has anyone been accepted to Honors in CLA yet? Sorry if you’ve already posted and I missed it. Also, does anyone know whether it’s possible to be admitted to Honors over the summer or after the May 1 deadline? I’m thinking there may be a spot for my D based on her year-end GPA and assuming that others turn down UMTC for other institutions.

Also waiting on potential Honors acceptance (S accepted to school several weeks ago) to CLA. I think a read one post where the admission to Honors did come until March. Is there Honors housing (e.g. floors in other dorms) aside from Middlebrook which seems a bit remote?

Middlebrook is the only honors designated housing and where honors admittees are guaranteed housing. But those in honors may certainly prioritize their housing preferences anyway they wish.

My daughter got into CLA honor letter last week. (That was the 2 weeks later admittance letter.)

@traj96 - I think ppl are just saying what they put as their intended major on app or area hey think they want to do a major. People plan for a major when choosing classes, but usually don’t declare one til Soph yr. Many majors have courses that must be completed before declaring and some majors are competitive - min GPA etc. I would bet that at least half of students end up majoring in something different than they had initially planned. That’s not bad! It shows that students learn more about what they’re interested in (or not) after trying a few things out or taking courses in what they thought they planned to major in coming in. My S is going to take classes in a few areas he thinks he may be interested in because he isn’t sure what he wants to do - just knows his relative strengths and general areas he has liked based on courses he took in HS. But it’s still a good idea to have a general idea of what you may be interested in so you can plan out courses accordingly. That’s important for getting prereqs done. It turns out for my S that the handful of potential majors he is interested in at this point have many classes in common so that helps for knowing what to take the first couple of yrs.

@mightyirony When did you submit your application?

@anxious00 I submitted my application on November 2nd, but they started reviewing when ALL of my materials were submitted, which I remember was around December 2nd.

@mightyirony Did the status in the application tracker change to “application being reviewed” or something when they started reviewing? Or, did it just stay as “All material submitted” and then change to decision? Thanks.

@anxious00 your status will change to “your application is being carefully considered” approximately 2-3 days before you get your decision.

General Comments: Great job to everyone accepted, and good luck to everyone waiting for their decisions!

You’ll get into honors. Then you can decide if you want to participate. The admissions rep is giving you one person’s opinion.

When will we get the honors invitation? I have been admitted to CSE and received Gold and Research Scholarships.

Just wanted to ping the group on this admissions wait question. Our daughter applied July 21st to the School of Nursing (probably will change to Biology) - all materials submitted approximately that time. Her stats are:

GPA: ~4.1W, 3.9UW
ACT: 30
RANK: Top 10% (#1 HS in state)
AP: 5+ courses with 4+ on AP tests.
ExtraCs: Normal batch of volunteering, school extras, and state team golf champion etc etc
Bio: White, Female

She’s been accepted to 5 other schools (including competitive Baylor/TCU) and already has scholarship letters as well; all of those applications AFTER the Minnesota application.

We’re not fighting the admission decision - but is it odd that 5 MONTHS after applying we’re still waiting for a response?
