Admissions drawing close -- Chance me @ UCs and suggest "safety" schools please!

I posted here already, but admissions are drawing in (already applied to Cal Poly SLO today!) and I am getting nervous about this -- I'm worried I'll apply to only good schools and get into none, and while I know how I stack up against those at my high school (very well, to be honest) I have not considered statewide or national averages at many schools.

Please, chance me at the schools I listed, and PLEASE suggest reasonable safeties, the kinds of schools I'd still enjoy, but would attend in a sort of worst-case-scenario setting of not being accepted anywhere I really wanted. Thanks!

I'm about to be a Senior (male, if that matters) in CA.
Chance me at (list is somewhat in order of priority to me):
- UCLA
- USC
- UC Berkeley
- UCSD
- Cal Poly SLO
- UC Davis
- UC Irvine

4.05 GPA weighted (UC GPA)
3.93 GPA weighted (high school/CSU GPA)
3.81 GPA unweighted (something like that)
Class Rank 14/397
SAT I - 2020 // 620 CR 680 M 720 W -- Just got my scores back today, improved from 1930 :)
SAT II - Bio E 600, Math 2 540 (Scheduled Math 2 retake in early December)

And all of my required courses are complete.

*Note: All 3 of the above camps (HOBY, Boys', ELC) accept only 1-3 students from each school for the program, and Boys' state only selects the top 1 or 2 Junior-becoming-Senior boys from each high school in California.

If there is any information anyone would like to know to help make decisions and the such, please feel free to ask! I am working on a second draft of my essays now -- one is about MCing rallies, the other is about the death of my good friend's mother and my hospital visit before she passed away.

bumpplzz  Any input appreciated… :)

anyoooone? pleasee

I’d say SLO is a safety along with Irvine and Davis! Did you do the ELC, by any chance?

I did not get ELC, i missed it by 1 or 2 people in the over all class rank! :(

id say UCLA and Berkely are reaches, USC is a high match, and the rest are matches

All right, thanks
anyone else? :)

tooo theeee tooop!

I would call the first 3 reaches, SD is 50/50, and the rest you look solid for.

UCLA- reach

 • USC- reach (in disagreement with heyitsmedude)
 • UC Berkeley- reach
 • UCSD- low reach
 • Cal Poly SLO- match
 • UC Davis- match
 • UC Irvine- match

I don’t think any of these match schools are “true safeties”, although you have a realistic shot at all 3 of them but not as realistic of chances at the schools I listed as reach schools. I would probably add UCSC to your list of UC’s for a really good safety school. It’s in a great location.

Thanks for the input!
I live really close to SC and don’t really like anything about the lifestyle, the people, the school, or the proximity to home :stuck_out_tongue: Other true safety recommendations, by chance?

USC, Cal, and UCLA are reaches. UCSD is a high match. the others you are probably in.

UCLA:Reach

USC: Reach

UC Berkeley: Reach

UCSD: Match

Cal Poly SLO: Match

UC Davis: Match

UC Irvine: Match

Thanks guys!! I just submitted my final application, to USC. :)
