How much marginal benefit do you think an applicant to a top ivy league school would get if he or she scored 2350 plus vs in the 2100 range?

Also, on a sidenote, how common is it for a minus two in critical reading to be a 800? On one test I took you could miss four and still get an 800, while on this last one it was two. What would you say is the most common number you can miss and still get an 800?

Depends on the major too. If you have say a 2140 with an 800 in math and you are applying to an engineering school, then your CR/W scores really don’t matter as much (still do, but math is by far the most important)

I would concur with this. Once the average score of each of your sections is ~750, any additional 20-50 point difference comes down to a matter of just one or two questions. A 700, on the other hand, usually comes down to 2-3 questions a section; a pretty significant jump from just 1, maybe 2 a section.

But bottom line: a 2350+ provides a significant admissions boost over a 2100, all else equal (ceteris paribus, for those in AP Econ).
