My son just received his conditional acceptance (for CSUMB). His first one - so we’re super excited! My question - is this a bit early even for a small school? Will we start hearing from other CSUs soon?
Yes, that is relatively early. Applications are not even closed yet. Congratulations.
As far as other CSU’s, several will send out acceptances as early as December. However, many have very set acceptance notification schedules and most commonly send out acceptances beginning in Mid-February to early March. Additionally, some seem to send them out in an almost random order.
Check the individual forums or this one to see when the bulk of acceptances start to come out.
My son got an acceptance today from CSU East Bay and I also thought it was really early. We are local to CSUEB so not sure if that played any part in the early acceptance.
Congratulations to your son! We are local to CSUCI. Hopefully, we’ll here from them soon!
Anecdotally speaking, local-area CSU’s that are not impacted seem to send out SOME acceptances early to high-stats candidates, probably to entice them to think “home” first. In the Sac State area, it is common to see students receiving acceptances in December and January, especially if that student is highly qualified and has applied to more selective universities. Often, these acceptances come with Honors Program invitations. These acceptances weren’t blanket, though. Many other high-stats students were not notified until later. I assume the major had a role in that.
Again, this is an anecdotal observation. However, I am a high school teacher, so I am in contact with a lot of students.
More admissions notices must be coming out now! Logged into DS’s account for CSUDH to find that he was conditionally admitted! Log in and check application statuses!
May I ask when DS submitted his application? Thanks in advance.
And congrats to your son!
Does anyone know when CSULB and CSUMB notify of acceptance?
@camimom Thanks! I believe he submitted aground 10/25. Honestly, I don’t think of he is “highly qualified.” Also, we are not local to either of his acceptances. I was surprised with CSUDH because I just randomly checked it. So my thought is that it doesn’t hurt to take a look every so often! Good luck to yours as well!
@caimom: CSULB and CSUMB start posting acceptances in February.
I just got accepted to CSUMB, no notification, just needed to check student portal.
My D’s bff got into Sonoma last Friday by mail. She was surprised because she didn’t expect to hear back until February and only applied two weeks ago.
My son’s portal changed to admitted tonight to CSUCI.
My son was admitted to CSUCI today as well!
@piepiepie3 @socalmomof4
My D’s portal for CSUCI has a green checkmark between “Fall 2020” and “Accept or Decline”. Does this mean that she got in? Were there any other messages or indications on the portal?
D was admitted yesterday to Sac State
Sac State has sent out some early notifications. I have only heard of locals being offered admission, so far. Has anyone heard otherwise?
I really wish CSUN would send out notifications since most of their majors are not even impacted. I am pretty sure my D will be accepted but I would love for her to have a definite before February or March. Any other CSUN or CSULB applicants here?
@MommaCat Same! My DS applied to CSUN…just waiting!
