Admissions for class of 2021

Hello, @chasegriff!

For questions about your son’s specific application, I would encourage him to contact our office directly. One of our Admissions Processors or Counselors can take a look at his application and assist you: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Thank you @hailtopitt1787 …I’ll tell him.

Question; if I already submitted my short answers with the online application, do I have to submit them again with the short answers link from the “Pitt Application Confirmation” email? And approximately how long does it take for the application status to change to complete? I submitted my app about a week ago but it still is marked incomplete

@rangsun25, Nope! If you submitted the Short Answer Question responses with the application, you don’t need to send them again. I’d estimate that application status should be marked complete within a week. It takes a little bit of time for our processors to ensure everything has been received and make that note in our system. If there is no action item listed in your account, you should be fine. We will let you know if we are missing anything, so no reason to worry!

Best of luck,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

@hailtopitt1787 I am not expecting to find out any time soon, but when will admissions start sending out decisions? Thanks

@almostdonewithhs, they will start reviewing applications in the next few weeks!

A Pitt Admissions Staffer

@hailtopitt1787 I submitted my application on the 26th but have yet to receive an automated email. Was I supposed to have received an automated email immediately after I submitted, or does that come later?

@supercilious it may take a few more days. Mine took a little longer than a week.

@supercilious, If you don’t hear anything in the next day or two, please do check with our office: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu. One of our processors can take a look at your applicant account and double check for you.

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

P.S. Please also check your spam folder, and make sure you are logged into the same email address you provided in your application. Thanks!

@hailtopitt1787 for the 3 response questions, should the word count be between 250-500 for each individual question, or 250-500 for all 3 together?

@jjohnross, We recommend the latter. But longer or shorter responses are acceptable.

@hailtopitt1787 On the mobile pitt passport website, I noticed under Admissions that when I expanded the application tab it said “program status: admitted” and then gave me the option to accept or decline the offer…is this official? I haven’t gotten an email or anything yet so I’m not sure if it’s a glitch with the website or what but I would love to know what it means - even if it means nothing. Just so I can stop wondering. Thank you!

Hi @engineur! Although you may see a status change in PSMobile, please wait for official communication.

Best of luck!
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Sorry to bother you, but when will the official communication start being released?

@somanyessays, It should be coming your way very soon. Keep an eye on your email/mail!

A Pitt Admissions Staffer

I am an impatient millennial, so would it trouble you to tell me how soon like today? Or tomorrow?
Also, who do I contact if I cannot get into my MyPitt account? I tried the live chat but it keeps redirecting me to the login.

Thanks so much for your time!

@somanyessays, Unfortunately, I cannot tell you exactly when without access to your applicant account. I am sure you will not have to wait too long.

Sorry I can’t give you a more specific answer.

Best of luck!
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

That’s perfectly fine. Thanks very much!

When my D logs into the portal it says that she needs to complete 2 items for her application: App Fee and Transcript. She received a Fee Waiver and she completed the Self Reporting Academic Record. Should she contact Admissions or is this a normal delay in items being verified?

@Dolemite, It is normal! Our Admissions Processors will go through her application, verify that everything is there, and then you should see those two items go away. It will most likely take a few business days.
