Admissions for class of 2021

@dolemite, Please do give us a call about adding new scores for scholarship purposes: 412-624-7488.
@ahs2017 It should be coming your way soon. I would give it a little more time.

@hailtopitt1787 I sent in my application early August but I just took the most recent ACTs. When should I expect a decision to be made because on my psmobile account it already has my scores up from this test?

@COof2017HH, The Admissions Committee is currently working on a large influx of applications from the summer. Typically it takes them about 3-4 weeks to turn around a decision on a recently completed application. At this time of year, I would tack another week or two on to that. They are working really hard to give everyone a thorough and efficient review, we just have a lot of applications right now!

Has anyone already accepted been contacted about financial/merit aid? Or maybe GAP?

It has been said before that scholarship committee will start meeting sometime this month.

Financial aid would be limited to Pell grant (if your EFC qualifies), maybe work study, SEOG if EFC is low enough, federal student loans, and state grant (if from PA and EFC low enough, or from state that will let you use state grant in another state). I think Pitt also awards a limited number of institutional grants to students with low EFC.

FAFSA for 2017/18 is now available to file, but financial aid awards will probably not come out for some time yet.

My son applied September 15 and received an acceptance email on October 5th. School of business.

Students who qualify for merit-based scholarships will be notified, by mail, anytime between mid-November and mid-February.Ultimately, all students awarded a merit-based award will be notified no later than March 1st. Because Pitt academic scholarships are so competitive, the Scholarship Committee reviews many admitted students more than once before making a final decision. To be considered for scholarships at Pitt, submit your application by December 15. The Short Answer Questions are also required.

For financial aid, we recommend you file the FAFSA by March 1 at the latest. We will begin packaging freshman financial aid awards in early February.

I see my D’s new ACT scores loaded via the portal so I assume they’ll be used for merit consideration.

@Dolemite, Yes, that is correct.

After I submitted my Pitt application, I discovered that I can still change my SRAR and I did because I forgot to add a class, will I still have to email the admissions office, or will my updated SRAR replace the SRAR before I submitted my application

@braves68, We should have your updated SRAR!

Any news when students will hear the status of their applications? Our student applied immediately after the application was open online. First choice and oh so anxious to hear. Thank you!

@ultrarunner, It should be soon! You are welcome to contact our office to check on the status of your specific application: 412-624-7488.

@brave68, It will be reviewed once it is complete!

Thank you so much for the reply! I realize we are super anxious & excited.

@ultrarunner, I am happy to help!

My DS won’t be joining Pitt. Good luck to all those who are still waiting for decisions.
