I'm an international student and I still haven't gotten my decision yet. I still have a few questions about the admissions criteria for international students.

1.) If we submit our SAT score, will McGill consider it? I heard that even if international students submit their SAT score, it is not considered; is this true?

2.) What are my chances? I have 2010 SAT score (in one sitting), 700 SAT Bio, 3.5 UW GPA. Can I get in..?

3.) What can I still do to increase my chances? Should I ask my counselor to call McGill to give me a good recommendation?

Thank you!

McGill considers the SAT score no matter which country you are from. A 2010 is an moderately good overall score. However you should check your individual scores (CR, Math, Writing) and make sure they’re all above the admission minimums for the faculty to which you have applied.

If they’re not, you may be slightly disadvantaged.

Your GPA and SAT II scores are quite good.

As for the recommendation, I wouldn’t send it unless McGill specifically requests for it. The university generally discourages sending additional, non-required documents. I’m also an International student from India and I only sent my reco letters after McGill asked for it via the Minerva portal.

Thanks a lot for answering upapilot!
Are you sure that they do consider SAT scores for internationals? How do you know this?
Oh, and btw, did you apply for McGill this year? Did you get your decision yet? If it’s private, nevermind.

Yes I did apply to McGill this year. I was accepted into the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Arts and Science. I had a SAT score of 2170 (CR: 740, W: 690, M: 740) and SAT II Score of 800 in Phy and 790 in Math Level 2.

I’m pretty sure the sat scores were part of the decision making process because I got my decision really early (in February), little more than a month after I applied.

Thanks so much upapilot. I just got my decision today and I got accepted to McGill Nursing!!! So happy!!!

@Pumpkin96 Congrats! Hope to see you at McGill! :-)
