Yeah, so I'm kinda ****ed, becasue I was never contacted for an admissions interview, and then i got deferred. Did this happen to anyone else? I feel like I got slighted by the admissions counsel.
Or do interviews not reallly have a big impact on admission decsions?

PS It's not like I live in the boondocks, I live 40 miles from Chicago!

You dont contact them for an interview, they(local alumi) will contact you. Also, interview has nothing to do with your application, you will get an interview opportunity only if alumni are available. Since many people apply each year, a large number of applicants will not get interviews. Most ED applicants will get interviews, but there are always possibilities that someone will get left out(like myself ). Personally, I dont think interview is important even though it is definitly considered. Since no one contacted you, I dont think it had an impact on your admission chance.

I agree. An admissions interview really has little impact on the overall application. Perhaps a raving review might boost you a little, but not having an interview shouldn't have been responsible for your deferral. If you're still interested in Dartmouth as a first choice, why don't you contact the office and ask if there are any alumni available now? Also, see the deferral thread for more suggestions on strengthening your app.

I have a quick question. I went to Dartmouth for an on-campus interview earlier this year. I was extremely dissapointed because my interviewer was a complete moron. I love the school, but I was really surprised this kid was a student there. He asked me the strangest questions, nodded his head at everything I said and never tried to build up a conversation. I know ti wasn't me beacuse I usually interview very well. All of my interviews have been like 50+ minutes but this was 20. I know it wouldn't be a god idea to call the admissions office and say "the student who interviewed me was a moron" but I am worried he won't give me a good review or something as Dartmouth is one of my first choices. Should I call and ask for an alumni interview? Should I tell them to take whatever the interviewer says with a grain of salt?

As long as you stayed on the high road and did treat the student like "this person is a moron" and you did not say something that was really inconsistent with your applicant or something that raised a red flag, I really would not worry about it.

Don't contact the college. If you are truly better than your interviewer made you out to be, then that will shine through in your application. Admissions people cannot trust interviews 100%. I doubt it will hurt you.
