Admissions Interview

I have my admissions interview at Wake coming up in about a week. I visited Wake Forest in the spring and I fell in love with the university. I really want to go to Wake Forest, so I don't want to screw up my admissions interview. Does anybody have any tips or words of advice on how to successfully prepare for and tackle the interview? What kind of questions will I be asked? What should I wear? Should I submit my application before my interview?

Know yourself and why you want to go to wake and see higher education. It’ll be okay!

We were told to interview before you submit your application. Wear something conservative.

My son interviewed last fall. The interview was quite challenging with the interviewer asking thought provoking, open-ended questions. My son loved it and the interview was one of the many reasons he chose Wake. He felt like Wake really wanted to get to know him personally.

My son wore khakis, a dress shirt and a sweater. Almost all the male candidates we saw were wearing suits. My son said he felt under-dressed. (Pro tip, though boys… get your suits tailored. It is money well spent!) The young women interviewing seemed to be more casually dressed with most of them wearing skirts and tops.

My daughter had a Skype interview last month and she thought it went very well. They spoke about our town, her HS, her interests, and books that she read. My daughter said that she felt very comfortable during the interview and that they really had a nice conversation. The interview lasted about 25 minutes.

My son interviewed a couple of weeks ago. He found the questions very thought provoking, especially questions they asked about his family. The interview lasted 45 minutes.

The girls were wearing office style dresses. We were kind of surprised at what the boys were wearing … Golf style clothing.

My son was advised to wear a blazer , shirt and tie (not a suit). I am glad we took that advice. He looked great and felt confident even though he was clearly overdressed.

He loved the interview process.

Good luck!
