Admissions Interviews

What is the nature of the admissions interviews for CMC? Are the interviews more laid back and informational or are they more professional? What is the best way to prepare for these interviews?

At CMC, you are interviewed by specially selected seniors. It is relatively informal. Because you are being interviewed by seniors, they can read right through you. The best advice I can give anyone is to BE YOURSELF. Interviews are not a time to pretend to be or pretend to have done something you haven't. It is the chance for the school to see if you match its "ideal student". So, relax and just stay true to who you are. It's not all about saying the right things, it's about showing your personality.

I just had mine on Monday, the 19th. It was really cool cuz my senior was a good listener and i really feel i got to show a lot of myself. I hope my activities weren't too overwhelming, but i know i got across that i am passionate about every single thing i do. sometimes i almost jumped out of my chair as i was recalling a highlight in high school. hahaha. the interview is like a honest show and tell. showing how you can fit at cmc and telling what a great person you are and giving them a reason to accept you. (i hope >.<)

Had mine yesterday. Went great. My interviewer was very friendly and always seemed interested. The packet says they are informational and not evaluative though. Not sure how much truth there is to that but who really knows. I was very impressed with CMC.

USC on the other hand: Oh my. My interviewer was an a-hole :/ The guy didn't even pretend to seem interested. Oh and get this, he never introduced himself. He just called my name and took me to his office which looked like a doctors office. He then proceeded to talk as if he were my therapist and that he needed to write me a prescription. It only lasted like 20 minutes. I REALLY hope I get into CMC ED lol. I'd at least send the guy a thank you note...too bad I don't know his name lol.

Do I have to travel for an interview if I live in Chicago?

They should have an alumni interviewer in your area. I live in Phoenix and I interviewed with an alumni.

I am almost positive that the deadline for alumni interviews was Dec 15th. But I could be wrong, you should check the website which will also tell you where the alumni interviewers are located.
