Admissions Method

what exactly is the method used by tech for admission? do they go in rounds, eliminating people every round based on SAT etc..? also, what is the most weighted aspect of one's resume? this is kind of a generic question but if anyone understands what im asking, feel free to respond. :)

I can't completely understand your question, but I will try to answer as well as possible:
1) I can't really say anything about Tech's actual method of admission.
2) GT will consider all aspects in a resume as important, but I could say - with some level of certainty - that they care most about:
a) GPA,
b) SAT Math score (>700 = very good),
c) any SAT II science/math scores

I don't think that your choice of major at Tech has any impact on your chances of acceptance.

Good luck.

devo...i love you

The GATech common dataset is here
<a href="http://www.irp.gatech.edu/Common_Data_Set_2005/Comm_Data_Set_A.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.irp.gatech.edu/Common_Data_Set_2005/Comm_Data_Set_A.html</a></p>

Review it. That will give you an idea of who they admit. I found from last year that if you applied early and had over 1300 SAT and 3.75 GPA, not a random sample by the way, that they admitted you early. I got my admit in early Nov.

I don't think they eliminate folks each round. I think they do elimiate those below the common dataset threshold when they see them but then start at the top of the applicant pool and work down using their yield equation to determine the exact number of folks to send offers to.

Admits of my friends trickled in over the next few months with tech making a flurry of admits in ~JAN/FEB in one large wave.

Last year they also offered admission to some folks who were on the edge on the condition they start in the summer so they could get a class or two under their belt and they were allowed to continure their enrollment if they passed all of their classes

(FYI in fall 2006 they more got a higher committment ratio than they had anticipated from the kids they accepted so we had triples in some of the dorm rooms) That may make Tech a little more conservative in who they admit this year

Good luck hopefully you applied and will get a positive response
