@equality4all I think the April 1st date was more of a rough benchmark date (basically that decisions would be released sometime before April 1st). However, I’ve also heard that all the Ivies release their notifications on the same date, and as Harvard announced March 28th as their release date, I would think that all of the Ivies would follow suit.
When did Harvard announce the March 28th decision day? My portal doesn’t have it (either that or I’m just blind)
Universities usually respect major religious holidays so March 28th, the day before Holy Thursday for Christians would make sense this year. April 1st is Easter Sunday.
UCLA and I believe another overenrolled by 100s of students last year. Because they work to support the UC system, they will do everything in their power not to repeat it. As such, my bet is they will be later this year to release decisions and will rely more on the WL. Just a strong hunch based on last year.
PS Actually March 29th would also make sense because Holy Thursday is not exactly a major day in the Christian holiday. Good Friday tends to carry more weight.
Last year Wellesley RD was released on 3/22/17 at 5:30 EDT
Copying over from Reddit, here is a list of colleges who they believe will be releasing decisions in the next week. Some of these are confirmed, some are speculative based on when decisions were released in previous years. There is dispute about Colby and Babson since both have stated that they received an unusually high number of applications this year, and about Pomona and Mudd, since CMC is releasing a week later so they may pick that date.
Northeastern: 12-16
Northwestern: 16
MIT: 14
Pomona & Mudd:14-16
Williams: 15
UCSC: 15
UCLA: 16
UCI:16
JHU: 16
Colby: 16
UGA: 16
WashU: 16
Pepperdine: 16
Syracuse: 16
Swarthmore: 16-17
Uchicago: 16-17
Holy Cross: 17
Colgate: 17
BU: 17
Babson: 17
@ninakatarina I would also add Bowdoin to that list because they released decisions on the 17th last year. I’m thinking maybe this Friday, but again that is speculation because they also saw a substantial increase in applications this year.
No official word, but Kenyon probably this week as well based on prior history.
Any news about the following colleges’notification dates?
University of Rochester
university of Richmond
Lafayette College
Gettysburg College
Dickinson College
Grinnell College
Connecticut College
@Adel291 conn releases decisions 3/24, but i’m not sure about the others
@Adel291 our kids applied to a lot of the same schools as we are waiting on 5 from your list. URoch has been releasing over the past few weeks; one of my daughter’s friends was accepted in the first round. I think they’ll continue releasing more each week. As kalons said, Conn is 3/24. No idea on the rest; website just says late March. Sigh.
@equality4all Here is the article published by the Crimson that says that Harvard will notify applicants on March 28th. Sorry I’m not sure about the rules on copy-pasting links, so sorry if I broke any rules!
Here’s the link: http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2018/2/14/applications-numbers-2018/
Also, it only mentions the March 28th date at the very bottom of the article!
Thank you!
Swarthmore, via email: March 16
University of Southern California will mail admission packages by April 1st. In previous years these were released on March 23rd or March 24th. A record number of seniors applied for the freshman class, 63,000+, according to a statement by the university president.
@odannyboySF I think it’s at 7 pm ET as well!
Does anyone know Barnard, Scripps and/or Grinnell?
Davidson 3/21/2018.
From the portal: “Notifications for Regular Decision will be posted on Wednesday, March 21 at 9:00 p.m. EDT.”
Does anyone know when University of British Columbia releases decisions for American students. Also wondering when NYU and Tufts plan on releasing their decisions, they say by April 1st but I’m unsure if any colleges typically release on a Sunday.
